Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Acceleration Test Skoda One App

So, ever since I saw the acceleration measurement in the app I have been dying to test it. Of course I've needed to wait until i could find myself a closed, private stretch of road to do it on.....

Well assuming the previous sentence to be true, I had an opportunity to test it out on the weekend. I might need to have another look around for another 'private, closed stretch of road" because the first one I found had a slight downhill incline to it which I'm sure cut the time down a bit, but still I have to say I was gob smacked. Who else has done a run and what was your best result?

I have always wanted to try that... Unfortunately I don't have access to an abandoned airfield or any other location to try safely.

Yes, it was using launch control. If you haven't tried it... you need to at least once. When you release the brake... it's best described as all hell breaking loose...

How do you use LC? Do you have to floor the accelerator pedal after you put your foot on the brake for the car to hold 4k RPM? Does it remain at 4k rpm until you release the brake?

oh i've used launch control plenty of times :p
with my previous ride - a MK2 Octavia RS running Stg 2+ and DSG tune. combined with a full an APR 3" RSC Exhaust, it was mental at ALL levels!!!

                very addictive.
had to keep telling myself to stop.

                  ESP/Traction Control Off
                  Sport or Manual Mode
                  left foot on brake
right foot on throttle - it should hold rpm to approx. 3,000
then......left foot off and go mental!!!!

I assume that would take the input off the speedometer which is probably reading the usual factory set 6% fast. That is to say that to be doing a genuine 100kph you have to be seeing 106 on the speedo.

CANBUS reads the speed as exact, the dash just shows a certain percentage higher than what the car knows its doing.

the critical thing is you need to make sure both the phone and car are on the same wi-fi. or you use the usb cable.

hence 3 ways to do it:-
                          1. turn on hot-spot on ur phone, and connect the car to the phone's hotspot. Skoda OneApp will then be connected to your car.
                          or
                          2. turn on WLAN on your car, and connect the phone to the car's wifi. Skoda OneApp will then be connected to your car.
                          or
                          3. use the USB Cable. Skoda OneApp will then be connected to your car.

With regards to #1 and #2, the Skoda OneApp cannot be shown on the infotainment system.
To do that, you need to connect via the USB cable.

i've tried all 3 ways, and they all work.

Not working with Android or iOS? I've tried methods 2 and 3 without success but I'll try one and retry methods 2 and 3 again as well

                            Cheers

                              I don't know about iOS as I have a HTC 10 running Android 7.
