What is a Superb Worth?

I have been offered a trade in figure that is the low end of wholesale I would say and I am wondering what the retail figure would be on my 125TDI Auto 2009 Superb Elegance Sedan. I looked in Carsales and there is only 3 2009 cars for sale and I think they are all dreaming asking between 12 and 16K. I have a friend who is interested but I have no idea what to put on it so where do I find a starting figure. My gut feeling is 8K would be about right if I don't want it hanging around too long.

135,000 kms, full Skoda FSH, very clean. Never driven faster than 225KPH.

At the end of the day it's worth as much as someone is willing to pay you for it.

I think you should be able to get a little bit more than $8k selling privately, but it'll depend on how long you're prepared to wait and if you're trading it in whether the dealer plays with the numbers.

Have you been given a trade-in price? If your friend is seriously interested in buying then I'd be offering it to him at the trade-in price. You don't lose out and he gets a trade price car.

Just remember the trade-in price is up for negotiation at a dealer just as much as a purchase price of the new car. Likely the dealer is going to wholesale the car on and not put it in their lot.

Also they're likely factoring in having the car sit around for a while plus possible DSG and DPF issues.

I have a trade in price and because I am buying a new car which they won't have any trouble selling (Tiguan 162 Highline / DA package) they are not budging and also I got a fairly good discount on the new car compared to what other dealers were offering I don't feel like rocking the boat and I will flog the Skoda myself. They will wholesale it and Skoda being an odd brand cops it in the neck which I knew when I bought the car. It is an absolutely awesome car and the only thing ever to go wrong with it was an AC compressor and if I was still working I think I would keep it but I can't afford to do that now.

Well if you can sell it for more than the trade-in price then it's a bonus. You'll have a bit of time before the Tig arrives.

And yes likely the dealer has you over a barrel on the trade-in. Generally cars that sold well new will sell well second-hand. Same goes for those that sold less well. Skodas are definitely under-rated but the resale is a killer if you change cars regularly.

I have got my AC and alternator went together as the Alternator's pulley (bearing) is (jammed) faulty casuing teh AC compressor to stalled.


Agreed to tigger73, you may have time till delivery to sell it yourself.
But you still need to factor the personal time effort while selling privately.


I am 100% agreed it's an awsome car if I don have to worry about the A/C compressor , DSG Clucth and paying for timing belt.....

Is you DSG still good ? Mine started to play up (shuttered 2nd and 3rd gear when accelerate hard) at around 80k mileage which may need to machine on the flywheel of the clutch system

The DSG is very good day to day but if the transmission gets hot it will sometimes thump when the clutch is released but that is an odd occurrence. We have towed thousands of kilometres at high speed and I am extremely happy with the transmission having watched others have all sorts of problems. I have a brand new alternator here if you want one at the right price.

So try to sell privately now, if you still have it when the new car arrives take the trade deal.
The good thing about Skodas is they are good cars and really cheap 2nd hand

You are dreaming if that is what you think the street value of an 09 Superb is worth. I would be ecstatic if I thought someone would pay me 10K for my car let alone 13K. Mine has 130,000, FSH, very good condition with only minor marks, towbar, 126Gig SSD upgrade, boot liner, unmarked internally, TDI, original unmarked floor mats (I put better ones in).

Good news for punters then. I have been thinking about it for a while, starting to out grow the Jettas.
Looks like $13K would get the V6 with all the fruit.

In regards to DSG, I think high speed is the key (not to ruin) where I do short distance driving (picking and dropping off kids) plus spirited driving.

12k-16k is not dreaming imagine people knock you back with $4-5k (15%-20%) of your asking price.
