Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Inside door arm rest - dis-integrating stcky

    Hi
I have a 2010 Skoda Superb Elegance (love the car) but I noticed that the inside front passenger arm rest is getting very sticky and starting to dis-integrate. I first blamed my wife saying it was her hand creams but now the drivers side is also starting to to the same. So obviously not hand creams.
Has anybody also experienced this? I suppose it will be a whole panel replacement which will be expensive.
    Thanks

Suncream? I've heard it do pretty bad things to cars before including poor quality leather on steering wheels. Otherwise maybe you guys have toxic sweat?

I have a 2008 which I would assume uses the same material, and no problems at all with arms on it everyday. I have a 2011 Santa Fe and the door vinyl starting peeling off bits of rubber 6mths from new. Turns out it sat in an outside holding yard for over a year so I reckon the sun killed it. All my cars have window tint film so don't see it since they replaced that skin.
