  • Battery Prices Canberra

For members information, I have decided to replace the battery (Century model DIN65LH) in the Superb and below is a sample of the range of prices on offer for a Battery for the Superb. Eventual winner was Battery World in Granville Court Phillip. Supercheap was not so supercheap....

    Supercheap Gunghalin - Century DIN65LH $229
ACT Batteries (Marshall dealer) $245 but discounted to $225 if I brought the car straight in
Battery Factory Fyshwick $198 - offerred a Yuasa battery (apparantly they own Century Batteries)
Battery World Phillip $189 for the Century DIN 65 LH with 660 CCA (Cold Cranking Amps)

I note that the current battery is listed as having 600 CCA.

So off to Phillip at lunchtime for the new battery..... hopefully will solve my alarm going off in the middle of the night problem....

I would have gone the YUASA if it was a genuine Yuasa. They are great batteries & I don't believe the quality is transfered to the Century range.

You didn't mention what warranty was offered or how many CCA and Amp/hrs they were. CCA is like torque, amp hrs is like how much petrol is in the tank. You can have a high CCA & low amp/hrs (which isn't ideal).

brad... thanks... i believe they were equivelants of the Century DIN 65 LH so i assumed 660 CCA. Not sure on amp/hrs...... I assume that Battery Factory sells genuine Yuasa... no reason to suspect they dont. hmmm now you have me wondering if I should pay the extra $10 and get a Yuasa....

Anyone else have any thoughts on batteries before I duck off at lunchtime??? Battery Factory and Battery World are both about the same distance from my work. The question is Yuasa or Century - the difference is only $9

Just noticed that one of the cars on the Battery Factory website (Purchase Camera Batteries in Canberra - ACT) is a Super Wagon in Brilliant Silver.... looks like a battery is common for the Superb.

Just spoke with Battery Factory and was told that there is absolutely no differnce between the Century DIN65LH and the Yuasa equivelant. They are made in the same factory, but have different stickers applied. Both 660CCA and identical in all ways (apart from stickers). Looks like they talked themselves out of a sale as might as well pay the $10 less and get the Century......

Battery World do Varta. Get a price on the equivalent Varta / Bosch. I think it's a Varta Silver Dynamic E39 760CCA / 70Amp hrs. Warranty is 2 years IIRC. Price will be $250 - tops but aim for $225. Bosch is the same battery.

Brad... yes i just came back and we had discussed the Varta (780 CCA or thereabouts) which they had at $259. I ended up with the Century DIN65LH with 660 CCA for a further discounted price of $170.00 I was told I could expect 4-5 years of service from this battery. I expect I will have changed my car by then. I couldnt justify the extra $90 to my wife When they tested the battery in my car before they replaced it, it was showing a total of 12 CCA and 0% of life. Despite haveing left it on trickle charge all of last night. So I think 1 more day of running and i would have found myself stuck somewhere with a dead battery... Glad I changed it today.

I MUST SAY, THE SERVICE AND PRICE AT BATTERY WORLD PHILLIP ACT WAS OUTSTANDING. ANY SKODA OWNER WHO NEEDS A NEW BATTERY I WOULD SUGGEST BATTERY WORLD IN PHILLIP 6282 9884

happy days if they gave you more discount.

I think 5 years is pretty optimistic - esp in CBR - I'd think 4 yrs tops.

You have to run vehicle decisions past the missus? I made a deal with mine years back - I don't question her expenditure on shoes, dresses, make-up, hair and useless, dust gathering ornaments for the houseetc & she doesn't question my expenditure on tools, cars, gardens, houses & computers.

Maybe so, but happy wife = happy life
