that's true, it'll b much easier when the dash is not in place etc etc.
but when they come from factory, they don't come with separate harnesses like the one above. makes no sense, costs more & takes more time to fit.

Thanks for the info fellas. As I said I am yet to fit it, or to be more truthful have get someone to do it. I would like to fit the BT unit in the proper spot if I could I just have to con my son into doing it as I can't be bothered playing with cars these days. A couple of things, the steering wheel buttons do not show a phone symbol, has anyone bothered to buy the correct switches? I presume the microphone has to be fitted in the roof as Skoda would not have done that?

Phillawed, what is the aerial for? Is it the Bluetooth aerial? If it is, you don't need it to be up on the windscreen as the phone can connect easily if the aerial is behind the dash.

Or is the aerial for the phone? My iPhone sits in the drink holder nicely and gets excellent reception, but I am with Telstra.

PS, I put my Bluetooth unit exactly the same place you did and I also wrapped it in bubble wrap so it wouldn't clunk around corners.

It's an optional antenna for the 9WZ bluetooth module. It is only used if you opt to use (and your phone supports) RSAP/Remote-SIM mode. This mode disables the antenna in your phone and uses the car antenna which should be better at receiving a signal. The +ve is that you can send/receive text messages in this mode via the RNS510, but the -ve is that your 3G/data connection is also disabled, so any online driving apps (i.e. Trapster) or email, etc, won't work.

9W7 doesn't have the antenna and doesn't support RSAP.
Some say he was the Stig... all we know is that he drives a VW Transporter.

Has everyone seen the cheap cable currently on offer on eBay?

Is this what I need to program my car/bluetooth/phone?
It does talk about "Activation - supported component activation"

Well I finally had 30000 service done at Preston Motors Epping Melbourne today and not impressed!
Couldn't make or didn't know how to make my BT work!
Said something about not recognising BT unit?
Who do I turn to now?
They didn't even have a day running globe in stock but need to get from Sydney!!!
Tried to fix various water leaks citing blocked drain tubes but only managed to dirty the trim!
547 bucks for an oil change and bad car wash ... what a rip

Thanks for the info Phil. I've got a MY13 Superb which at 8,600 ks has developed oil leaks. (I changed the oil myself and noticed leaks at rear of engine) I used original parts so Skoda can't jump up and down. I noticed some oil pooled on the bottom plastic stone guard. A reasonable amount too may I add. I'll be taking it back to Preston Motors Epping where I purchased it. I hope they have the parts in stock or they'll face the wrath of Shakey!
I don't understand why your car didn't have blue tooth to start with? I thought they all were factory fitted. What year is your car? Why can't the dealer program it?

Ended up costing me $400 bucks as they say they had to run wires for the microphone etc etc
Guts is they really don't know anything about these cars in my humble opinion (imho)
The Service Manager kept on about my 'aftermarket' kit etc etc
They just don't know how to program things imho!
Told the guy had 'day running light out' Oh you mean fog light? No DRL
Wouldn't listen and ordered FOG globe from Sydney.
I fixed it with a blinker globe in under 5 mins!
Don't think I rush back to Preston Mtrs Epping
Bluetooth phone set up is working but very expensive at $400
