  • Poor Service by Dealership with Warranty issues

Hi all, I have what I, Skoda Aus, VW Aus, NRMA, MTAA, and other Mechanics consider a warranty issue. I have squeaky CV boots on my 10 1/2 month old $70,000.00 Superb V6 4x4. After repeated discussions, emails with the dealership and Skoda Aus, nothing has happened.
Even with a TPI on the issue I have not been contacted to resolve the issue.

Is this just Lennock Motors?? or are others enduring issues with Warranty?

Sounds like a dud dealer. Is there another one in CBR?

Sounds like a bad dealer to me too! It's probably because there is no other dealers in Canberra so they don't care. That's really sad! The reason that Skoda scored so well in UK JD power survey is also because of their aftersale service. If Skoda Aus can't provide similar service here, then it will only harm the brand image even more!

I haven't got my car yet so can't say anything about warranty experiences, but from the other thread under Octavia section on "warranty issues", some one also experienced a bad experience with Brisbane Skoda as well, which was the sole Skoda dealer in Brisbane until only a couple of months ago. Now he goes to the new dealer (Bryan Byrt Skoda) and is very happy with it. This dealer is the one I got my car from and I must say they are really friendly! I go to the showroom once in a few weeks to let my kids hop in and out of their new cars, the sale person and manager are like my friends now!! I don't know what their service will be like with warranty, but they have already promised me (in writing) a courtesy car if my car will ever need to be repaired under warranty (ho

So let's hope there will be another dealer in Canberra soon.

its frustrating to see it come to a situation like this.
unfortunately in our case, with vw service centre performing the warranty for lennock, they not keen on the best interest for skoda vehicles. they have little product/technical knowledge of the skoda range, and quick to make assumptions.
even the courtesy bus driver didn't understand me when i said "skoda" - so he wrote down "vw" against my service details!!

as i had mentioned in one of my other posts - its VW aus that makes the decisions for everything skoda here in aus.
doesn't matter if lennock skoda or vw acknowledges the issue, its VW australia that needs to, because end of the day - they provide the warranty & service for skoda vehicles.

and unfortunately for us, if it doesn't have a 'vw' badge on it, it gets shoved under the bed should there b any issues that need resolving.

vw aus will determine wat skoda vehicles can b sold here.
vw aus will determine wat pricing is on skoda vehicles sold here.
vw aus will service skoda vehicles.
vw aus will determine wat warranty fixes can b done, or apply to skoda vehicles.

as long as skoda aus is under the 'control' of vw aus - we're at their mercy!

Yes well im taking my Skoda Elsewhere, and I have had it on the ramps at home, i know what the issue is, I can fix it myself..
Not impressed considering the value of car.. Yes the car is great. Love it.. But seriously 70k car and they wont fix CV boots that are compressed by the Sports Suspension.
Pretty Poor service from Lennock...Skoda Aus aka VW Aus.

Although I'm on my second Skoda, as the manufactured vehicle is fantastic, the local service for Canberra is getting worse with in my experience, and I'm unlikely to suggest people buy from this dealership if this is the sort of service expected.

I wonder what if you write your concerns directly to Matt Wiesner? It might make somebody listen.

Matt who?? Sorry, I’ve already been in contact with Snr Skoda technical specialist Reps, VW service reps through the dealer, but no matter whom, they seem to not care. I am not going to chase them as it’s their job to chase me, I paid the 70K for a car with Warranty and a dealership to service my car, look after my warranty concerns etc.
I’m in two minds, chase them legally through the warranty contract, or speak my mind and pay for a real mechanic to service my car from now on. Hell I feel like being Noisy about this and they are going to have to deal with my ongoing complaints and online rhetoric through forums and my friends and associates in ACP, IAG, ACCC, ACT ORS and other National Media and regulatory bodies.

I actually have an email that has been sent from me referencing your post copied to your dealer and Skoda Oz. I'm sick of them screwing up everything they touch and ironically the thing that wins Skoda all those awards is the aftersales service. Something that is usually pretty poor. My dealer has been ok, but Skoda HQ are nothing short of an enormous joke. They can sponsor all the teams they like but they are pissing away money if they can't even get themselves sorted.

This really should concern Skoda Aus that dealerships aren't properly handling warranty concerns (especially given they seem to have acknowledged its a genuine warranty complaint). Their reputation for service is a major selling point (its what many of us no doubt roll out when asked to wax about the skoda). I'm not concerned that the car is going to explode - they seem rather well put together, but I do get concerned when an organisation can't deal with problems that should just be a simple process - process process process...

Personally I think emailing Skoda Aus is useless. The email department is handled by VW Aus and they don't careless whether Skoda customers are looked after or not. What's worse is people that handles these emails are usually teenage girls that probably hasn't graduated from high school yet. They are just getting paid $5/hr to handle every enquiries with standard answer: "please contact your nearest dealer for further info."

Believe me, I tried to ask them via email for a very simple question. That's all I got. I find VWwatercooled has more resources than Skoda Aus / VW Aus.

I agree with CanberravRS, go to ACCC or something like that and persue legal action. Although I wouldn't go to medias for it, because it will only damage Skoda's image, which in a long run, is not good for us Skoda owners. All we want is good aftersale service from Skoda, not to see Skoda withdraw from Aus market.

Also, just out of curiosity, can you give us a bit more detail of what you mean by "they don't care"? If this issue is rectified by Skoda Aus as warranty repair, isn't it just as simple as drop the car at the dealership and get them to fix it? Did they refuse to take the car or did they refuse to repair it even though Skoda Aus already said it's under warranty? Or is it just simply something the experts (eg NRMA) believe it's warranty issue but dealer +/- Skoda did not consider it as warranty repair? Because with the latter, it can be a bit tricky.....

I forgot I had done it, but thought it might pay to draw attention to Skoda and VAG the repeated theme of poor service from them at the best of times. So I sent a link to this thread copied Lennock and suggested they may well want to pick up their game all around, as this is pretty much where all SKoda owners and certainly a lot of the early adopters look or lurk.

I say forgot as I wrote it on my iPad but it was in flight mode from a recent trip so it must have sent it eventually when I turned flight mode off. Hopefully you get some action as I thought it sometimes helps to have other people noticing issues like this and also raising it with them.

I've lost count the number of times they don't answer emails about easy questions, and apart from when I bought the car, I have never seen nor heard a peep from Skoda Oz, no thanks for buying a Skoda or here are your warranty details etc nothing. Mazda are always sending you stuff including feedback about your servicing etc, rating the dealer after buying a car. All kinds of things. The fact that Skoda don't do it shows a deep lack of anything.

So I got a reply saying they have copied Lennock which is what I did and they are investigating it for you. Maybe we should point out the rattley wastegate issue they are playing silly buggers over.

Another option guys, drive to Moss Vale and have it serviced at Allan Mackay Autos. They look after Skoda, Peugeot and Volvo.

Long story short, the owner of the only Peugeot dealer in Canberra told me once that 'if you don't like the service, take your car elsewhere.' So I did.....

(My issue at the time, draining 8L of oil from an engine which should've had only 5.3L in it.)

The guys at Allan Mackay Autos fought a tough battle for me also with regards to warranty on violent clutch shudder on my old GTi180....it was replaced finally by Peugeot Australia with 70,000kms on her.

Needless to say, that dealership gets ALL my business and no matter what, I will be buying my vRS TDI from them, not the local dealer in Canberra.
