Yes the advertising seems to be on up , the "australian " has been carrying much more of late for occy and superb .

I had a look at the combi a couple of weeks back , the build quality is very impressive , interior is very upmarket , and i just love that electric tailgate .

This is the car to create the image of a quality car maker , sales will build from here for skoda , and the yeti is coming in 2011.

My missus just pointed out the luxury car of the year ad in her gourmet traveller mag, so it looks like skoda is spreading their print media advertising around a fair bit. Perhaps they have a plan after all

I’m sure part of the plan is not to spend too much on advertising while there is limited stock available in the country.
All the same it will be hard work to win sales from the new Mondeo given how much Ford will pump it up.

Advertising the Octavia RS on the right hand side of Sydney Morning Herald - Business & World News Australia | smh.com.au today. That's one of the two big news websites in NSW...

Better half tells me she saw a skoda ad relating to their sponsorship of the tour de france, then went on to explain to me that they're the support vehicles for the race

Seems the ads may be working for building brand awareness, at least in this household.

Lots of billboards in SYD for the Superb Wagon.

The June issue of the "Australian Way" Qantas inflight magazine has an article on Skoda in general - a flattering article at that.

Also, I was looking at Top Gear 2009 car of the year magazine (or something like that) at the hairdressers the other day and, I know it's old news, but the Superb was luxury car of the year.

Saw a white TDI model at Richmond Skoda yesterday that someone had just taken out for a test drive. First white car I've liked the look of in quite some time.

It's of course in the Age too here in Melb. Was quite one-sided wasn't it.

Doesn't surprise me either. I had a look at an Elegance this morning. Very impressed. The build quality is just so good. I was even impressed with the smoothness of the diesel engine.

Nice review... About as informative as picking up the brochures for both cars and thumbing through them...

But you know what they say... any publicity is good publicity...

Not really - the brochures are more accurate. 118TSI is 2.0L? I don't think so. Same engine as my car = 1.8L.

Interesting what they say about the Holden. I was driving the wife's VE Calais today (a car that I detest). I'm not sure if it's exactly the same engine as the base model but it actually got quite a reasonable note to it when pushed beyond 4500rpm. Sounds shocking between 2500rpm-4500rpm but get stuck in & it's pretty tuneful. Lack of low down torque - seemed OK but the throttle needs a good poke. Wife test drove a petrol Mondeo today & said it was "more powerful", which it wasn't but that's her way of saying it had more grunt off the lights.

Are you saying the reviewer didn't even have a brochure? Next you'll be saying he didn't actually drive the cars and just formed an opinion based on other car reviews and that time he saw one drive past at the shops! It is indeed a sad day for 2 minute car comparisons...
