Water pump leaking is fairly common on this engine.

As for an emergency top-up, water is fine until you can get it repaired. Even tap water is fine for a top-up to get you by.

But obviously, don't hold off on the repairs to the point that you're topping it up often enough to over-dilute the coolant.

I got my car back today, all is good.
The service representative mentioned this as well, the water pump is problematic on this engine across all VW brands, he mentioned it shouldn't fail after replacement.
