Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Closing power tail gate in Superb via middle console?

    Hi there,

I know we can open tail gate via the middle console.

Since the new Karoq able to close it, I am just wondering whether or not it is possible to close it as well for Superb MY2017 onwards.

Thanks for the link so it is possible.
Can anyone enable it (centre console button) to close the tail gate using obdeleven/vcds in Australia? and how?

U need a VCP tool, which is a dealer only accessible tool.
VCDS or OBD11 can't enable it - as far as I know

          Oh I see.
Too late for me, I serviced my car two weeks ago.
Can anyone request for this to be enabled for your next service and update here?
          Thanks.

Ive got a RS Oct (and coded a few other Octs), Ive enabled via VCDS/OBD11

You would like to think it would be the same? Isnt it MQB platform?

I also disabled all the beeping that comes with it too
2 changes in the Adaptations Menu, might not be English, maybe that's where people are getting tipped up.

I'm trying to do this for my Arteon but I can't find these options at all.

Anybody been able to do this yet on a Superb Sedan?

Also I'm looking to enable the "kick to close" function on the tailgate (kick to open works on the Arteon, but you have to press the button, pull on it, use the remote) if you want it to close.

I'd love to be able to do this with our Octavia RS.

I'm not of any local Superb owners having done this yet.
Probably cause u need a VCP tool.

                  The Superb has Kick-To-Close already.
I'm not sure what the coding is for that, if looking to enable it.

                    Ok so this is interesting....
                    In the Arteon:
                    09-Central Electrics
                    10-Adaptations
                    ENG141634-ENG142259-Verdecksteuergeraet-Kick_and_close
                    Value = Not Installed.

In the Superb, that is "Installed"

                    And then... In the Arteon:
                    05-Acc/Start Auth.
                    10-Adapations
                    ENG126956-ENG154581-Byte9_VIP-Coding_kick and_close_function
                    Value = Not Active

But in the Superb that value is Active.

I don't know if I'm interpreting this correctly, but surely that doesn't mean I need a special module/bit of hardware in my car to have the kick to close function? Even though I can kick to open, and I can close it any other way except by kicking (and the door button).

I tried it last night, but I'm not sure if maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree. I was able to set the following in the Arteon:
                        Verdecksteuergeraet-Kick_and_close = Installed
                        Byte9_VIP-Coding_kick and_close_function = Active

                        But it didn't change anything.

The reason I'm not sure if this is the right setting is because there's no German -> English translation word (that I can find on Google) for "Verdecksteuergeraet". And when I search for that word on Google, it shows me a hardware module for convertible cars. So I *think* this might be related to "kick to close" for soft tops/convertibles.

But our Superb isn't convertible, a soft top, or has a sunroof.

Interesting, the 6D-Trunk Electrics adaptions between the Arteon and the Superb are pretty much identical. The only difference is how far things open, minimum height etc.

maybe there is some sort of hardware or module that needs to be "installed" or present for the coding to actually work.

though it doesn't make sense for different hardware between kick-to-close and kick-to-open!!

could there be differences between the Wagon and the Liftback? cause technically urs would b aligned to Superb Liftback as opposed to a Superb Wagon in terms of parameters of the power tailgate.

maybe there are differences beween SW and HW components?
below is from my VCDS scan:-

I've gone through the 05-Acc/Start Auth, 09-Cent. Elect and 6D-Trunk Elect. adaptations line by line between the Superb and the Arteon with the only real differences (that may be related to the tailgate closing) being those settings I mentioned. The module and the kick_to_close function.

I may need to ask on the Ross Tech forums.
