Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Will an Mk7 R FMIC fit in a VW Octavia RS

    Hey Guys,
Will the cavity between the engine and crash bar fit the slightly deeper FMIC of the Golf R Mk7?
If so, where is the best place to source one (pref secondhand)? On the VWWatercooled WTB page?
    Thanks, Brad

Theoretically yes, but be prepared to possibly cut and grind to ensure a good fit. I've found that some parts don't always crossover seamlessly.

I'm sure there are a few stock Golf R IC around for sale - as mentioned, try your luck on the WTB page or check out the 'parts'/'for sales' sections of various forums.

As far as I'm aware, no one on the Australian forums has been down this path with an RS....

How much bigger is the Golf R (and presumably an Audi S3) relative to the stock vRS one?

I've not been able to really find this information easily in the past.
