Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VCDS MKIII RS and tuning

    Hi all,

Just bought a 15.5 RS TSI. Have read on here that some people have used VCDS to do useful things such as allow boot closing from inside/pressing the key and even allowing the traffic function to work??

Is this something that is easily done? I'm in Perth and would love any help from locals here..happy to provide beer / some cash!!

Also curious as to who has tuned there MKIII TSI and where you got it done in Perth? Very interested in it but cut decide if gambling warranty is worth it or not..

I've done that to my 15.5 RS TSI. Met a guy in Melbourne on this forum and he helped me with it. Only issue is that when you hold the button for the boot to close, it stops halfway, but just hold the button again and it'll close all the way. I find it really useful.

He also disabled the Auto Start/Stop and enable traffic info.

As for tuning. I haven't done mine, but I've done some research. If you are concerned about warranty, go with a tuner that will be able to erase the tune if you need them to. Met a tuner in Melbourne that uses APR Tune and will do just that. Only problem is that the APR tune is $1895 now!
