  • Octy RS - Dyno results - stock as a rock

Had a chance to get her on the rollers today with some of the Renaultsport boys.

She went well and posted 132kW at the wheels - very happy with that considering 30% drive loss

So we have a base line now..

Mainline dyno, 4th gear, ambient of 22 deg. Running BP98. Will post the curves when i have a chance to scan it.

    Nice healthy motor..

    Thats impressive...

    Don't they only make 147Kw @ 5100rpm / 280Nm @ 1800rpm as per manufactuers spec?

Looks like you have a live one there!

    Well done!

Correct. I put it down to a healthy engine and good run in process.

Dyno seemed to be on the ball too, as some RS Clios where making 98kW as they should (124 at the fly) and Megane 225's 140kW ish ( 167 i think at the fly)

Old skool Sierra RS Coswoth put down 187kW at all 4

Alpine A110 a nice 68kW from 1600cc air cooled out the back.. Looked sweet

Here's the results of some Vagcom logging I did, yesterday as it happens - stock as a rock also. 24.5 deg ambient temp, third gear.

I measured several things at once, so each measurement only occured about three times per second. The torque figure is a theoretical value produced by the ECU based on the crank angle sensor, and the power is calculated from this in Excel...

I don't think that FWD has 30% drive loss - my AWD Liberty had that much.

Having looked at a few dyno results & using the bum-dyno on my old Golf I'd think they lose 15% at most (but closer to 10%).

            15% - fwd
            20% - rwd
            30% - 4wd

            Rough guide!

Well the MK3 2.slow gets around 92hp at the wheels with a rating of 115hp at the crank making it a loss of 20%, I'd say its 20% anything less would be optimistic to say the least
