Got an email today from "infotainment@skoda-auto.cz". Suggests update is almost available (as when I click the link nothing is new)

Dear customers, Starting from June 2015, you can download the up-to-date version of maps for your navigation systems. The optimal route calculations featuring the current maps are both cost-effective and environmentally-friendly.
	Further information about ŠKODA infotainment system updates can be found here.
	The next update is due in November 2015

When I add my VIN number in the update portal it tells me my map has expired and to extend the subscription. It also says new map available in June, but no indication of it yet.

I asked when my RS was delivered (about 3 weeks ago) what the story with map updates was.
The dealer was not entirely sure but he looked into it.

He came back a few days later saying that when applying the update they need an unlock code which they have to get from VAG. He did say that I should get an update but stopped short of saying there would be continual updates during the warranty period,
The code may explain why the downloaded update is not working for anyone.

Richmond Skoda (in Victoria), where I bought my car, advised I can drop in and get the next map update when it suits (for free) as my last service was just before the new maps were available. I got the impression that this will continue indefinitely and is just part of the service. I could be wrong though..

FYI - It was mentioned, as it's the Audi service centre there that does both Skoda/Audi, that if I had an Audi the map update costs each time.

They always said that to me for years but last I heard Skoda stopped that.

Apparently the 2016 version of the maps just released.

Can anyone here with a MY16 Octavia with Columbus share the latest download URL from the update portal - Update portal.

Just getting the 2015 update would be good!
To my knowledge no one on this forum has successfully downloaded & installed a map update...
Happy to be proven wrong!

I've found the URL for the 2016 Columbus map - http://infotainment-cdn.skoda-auto.c...W_NT_Q1.15.zip

I'll be looking into updating the unit this week.

NOTE: This hasn't been tested yet. If you followed this thread you would know that the 2015/2016 version of the map did not work for most of us and no one has reported that it has worked for them. Do this at your own discretion. Details on updating the Columbus unit can be found in the first post.

Good luck! Reflects poorly on VAG, the problems experienced with this.

And the answer is..... same as last update, it doesn't work with the same errors. I would say that the OZ versions have updates locked out.

Can I ask the obvious question as to why noone has just asked the dealer? From what I know the updates are free again from them.

Hi Venom_oz Did you have any luck on getting the maps up onto your unit? I'd be interested to compare the original 2013 ROW zip i have available on my update-portal to see if we can hack the missing md5 sum. Along with any other missing files... If there is someone local in Sydney with the actual zip archives i might be bale to help as my patience is thin waiting for the 12 and 20g archives to download.
