  • New Skoda Dealership

I'm driving around today and guess what I see? A NEW Skoda Dealership has opened up in Nunawading VIC. Just around the corner from where I live. I'm sure it wasn't there the last time I drove down Whitehorse Rd.
That's a lot closer to me than the dealership in Richmond I bought my RS from.

Eastside Skoda. I drove all the way there just to see what it was like and see their stock. New and very flash looking.

Yeah was posted a few weeks back. Will see how they are when I get closer to order time but that group isn't renowned for awesome service. I'm just near there too but my office is in hawthorn so can use either really. A bit suss on the service side as it looks to be a showroom only and not keen on the Mitsubishi dudes working on my car.

I've been wanting penfolds to get on it

Walked up there today. They have temp banners up as apparently they haven't had council approval properly yet for the real ones. I thought east side bought Brighton Skoda?

Anyway tonnes of stock. They don't have their own service dept. They use the Mitsubishi service bit next door. Not ideal, as they won't be that knowledgable about VAG stuff and I've heard bad things about that service centre.

They had lots of walkins from shoppers on the strip and several sales guys. Lots more than I've seen Richmond Skoda have. Richmond Audi/Skoda are really in a crap spot when you think about it.

One of their sales guys is really really weird and creepy. We couldn't understand a word he said, he seemed nervous and unfortunately reminded me of every nazi war criminal doctor you see pics/movies of. He even had the accent and glasses. Tried to give him a fair go but he was the worst sales guy I've ever encountered. Two others never emerged from their offices, even with people waiting. Upstairs is a big area full of ? Not sure the used car yard isn't also using the building there.

One other guy was trying too hard with a young couple trying to browse. Will wait and see how they go. Later this year I'll get serious with them and Richmond for the actual sale. Leaning towards Richmond at the moment.

That's interesting about the service department. It doesn't inspire much confidence. Maybe I'll end up back at Richmond Skoda for service.

I'm hoping Skoda bring a service centre to the eastern suburbs soon. Richmond is good, but it's a bit of a hike for me, and just in a painful location, if you can't get a courtesy car it makes things difficult.

There was talk of a new dealership at Burwin VW - much needed on this side of town!

They won't put one in Melb near a VW dealer. There are a few exceptions in rural towns, but it's too close and VW dealers are already upset that Skoda is here. Apparently the VAG group is putting efforts into expanding Skoda and Audi and have been approaching companies to get them to start a new franchise. Mainly as VW growth is slowing but the other two have plenty of room to grow. I would love Ringwood Mazda to take one up, but they were Mazda only, although I thought they may have been sold or bought out in recent times. The same guy owned them for a long time, since Mazdas first came to Oz.
