That pcv part clearly says not for tfsi. Brad must not be using his glasses today weekend and all lol.

Unless if you click it goes elsewhere but it's the wrong part by the description. It does say mkv 2t golf though so not a very clear description. Any reason why you don't just get the oem part?

What's the difference between a 2.0T FSI and a 2.0TFSI?

For the catchcan you need an Afrika plate for the rocker cover/head. If you google image TFSI catch can there are plenty of different offerings from 42draft designs, Forge, UROtuning, 034motorsport, BSH, Black Forest Industries, Revo, Integrated Engineering and others

Partno for PCV should be 06F129101N???? I'm not sure if the 06F129101NR version is a different fitment or a later revision

FSI was the NA engine. If it was TSI then they should be OK. I recall Skoda had about 8 variants of the PCV and the DV due to problems they kept seeing so lost track of what version was used and when. I never asked what our PCV was that failed and what version they replaced it with. Logically you would want to use the most recent one. Maybe give Skoda a call and see what they say.

Keep in mind this is something that *may* go wrong, I'm the only one on this group that I know of that saw something and it was an easy fix and pretty simple for Skoda to diagnose. A lot of the UK guys just wait until they see the signs and then replace it themselves.

TSI PCV is a totally different design.

The yanks often refer to the 2.0TFSI as the 2.0T FSI - they seems to enjoy putting a space in there for no good reason. The explanation on ECS is very confusing though.

I agree - ring Skoda Parts and act like a dumbo and say something like: "The (other) Skoda dealer wants to sell me the N revision which he has in stock but my mates on the internet say the R is the latest version - who is right?"

Brad, Woofy. Thanks for your much appreciated advice here. I'll consider waiting until / if the PCV causes any problems, though I'll probably replace the diverter valve soon.
Seems like Brintech provides good prices, and are local Aus suppliers for the filters.
I will order plugs online to save money.
A wheel alignment on the cards very soon too.

I won't need to 'act like like a dummo' if I call the Skoda dealer.. 😜

u can easily tell the difference by the location of the oil dipstick and the way the air intake is connected.

"TFSI" (EA112 BWx) engine bay.....as found in the pre-facelift mk2 octavias.




"TSI" (EA888 CCZx) engine bay.....as found in the facelift mk2 octavias. they were also in the last of the pre-facelifts when they were transitioning to the facelift shape.

Definitely a TFSI. BWA engine code. 2007 Pre FL.

Had a spare key cut by the fellow advertising on eBay, recommended in an earlier post (vw_parts_aus). Very happy with the service he provided - knowledgeable, friendly and efficient, thorough job done. PM me if you'd like his contact details.

Thanks matey, I was going to ask about alignment / camber. I will post when it's been set up.

I agree about the ECS Tuning wording, I think that's what they are trying to say, albeit unclearly (that the engine cover has FSI on it, as opposed to to TFSI).

They are great cars. I actually saw that yellow wagon when it was first advertised & was half tempted to go and have a look as I love the yellow & would like a wagon.

It's interesting to get your feedback on how good a car you can get for <$10k.

It's one reason why I am trying to think of a way to keep our current RS instead of our newer Santa Fe at the beginning of next year. It should be worth an awful lot more when we come to sell it and it's worth more to keep it than resell. Unfortunately, we need the space of the Santa Fe and the new Octavia gives us a bit more room to come as well, especially if we go a wagon this round.

We also have a Kia Sorento (TDi), which is essentially the same as the Santa Fe as you know. To be honest, there's really not much more room in the Sorento than the Octy wagon. Bonus 3rd row seats can be useful occasionally..

They are both great cars, but I'm more than happy with the yellow wagon right now.
I got bored of the Subaru Outback which I've been driving up to now, hence the move to the Octy wagon.

I was considering making a change for a long time. When I saw this one, I couldn't go past it.
Thankfully, it's been a pretty good result for me so far.. Hopefully it will stay that way.
Air filters and plugs on the way now. Oil/filter change done.
