Any info on the new mirrorlink function for 2014 Octavia

Does anyone know anything about the mirror link function of the media head unit in a 2014 Octavia? Built Jan '14

It is supposed to support Apple Carplay. (control maps etc from the head unit).

Is there an update I can download to enable it?

I have mirrorlink on an Alpine unit installed last year in my other car and it only supports actual "Mirrorlink" ie the few companies that use it, Apple not being one of them. However my unit is supposed to play video from non lightning cables and it never did.

I see the new Golf GTI has it enabled on it's columbus head unit.

The MY15.5 & MY16 model Octavia are rumoured to have it.

By all appearances my MY14 Octavia has the same head unit. Please just be an update to the head unit firmware...

So I found this and put my vin number in it came up with two updates one for maps and one for bluetooth, Not sure if it will give me mirrorlink but it might be worth a try.

Hmmm, the update portal gives an error when i plug in the VIN of mine.

Mirrorlink? How do you get it? I thought it's only coming on/with the New Fabia and not the current Gen Octavia....

I put my VIN (still on water) in and get "Maps ROW 2015 Subscription Your maps will expire 5/25/2015".

I'm unlikely to even see my car before then... what's the deal with the "subscription"?

that's a great question, mine says it expires 2014, and a renew button..... press the button and it goes to the Czech site and no discernible option for renewing the OZ maps.
