  • Protective film by rear doors, Octavia RS 2015

My 3 weeks old Octavia RS was scratched at a parking lot. Scratch was about halfway up the rear wheel arch, same level where the protective film on the bodywork is located, on front of the rear wheel between the arch and the rear door.

After the repair, I noticed the protective film on the bodywork was removed by the panel beater. It was even removed from the other undamaged side of the car.

Would anyone know if this is a standard practice? Can this protective film be purchased and reapplied?

Probably available as a spare part through the dealer.

If the film isn't available as a spare then one of the suppliers (vinyl wrappers, window tinters) of clear protective film like they put on the bonnet would be able to supply something.

Very cheeky (actually, it's really bad workmanship) of the panel beater to remove the film from the "good side" as it could make the corrosion warranty null & void (it would in the UK).

It should be reapplied by the repairshop as it is part of the standard car. Especially claimed via insurance.

Yeah I had the repairers not replace the one on my Santa Fe, but they left the far side one on. I didn't notice it until recently and it was fixed up a year ago. They should replace it if under insurance.

I have contacted the repair shop and they will be correcting this.
