  • Blurry rear window

Is the rear window factory-tinted on a 2011 RS liftback?

Reason I ask is that mine is distractingly blurry and I'm wondering if it's an after-market jobby. During the day it looks like there's a permanent film of water across the window, at night it's a disco with the lights of the cars behind me doubling, tripling, and the rest. Closer inspection reveals the tint is warped and distorting, particularly where the wires for the defogger join.

Can a good tinting place fix that? Should I replace the window? Any ideas? It really is driving me mental.

Given it's a second hand car I can't believe the previous owner didn't notice and/or rectify. I've had the car two weeks and I wanna take a hammer to the window.

There is a manufacturers tint integrated in all windows by Skoda but your problem just seems to be a badly applied or aged additional laminate tint.
Maybe someone left the rear window heater on, on a hot day?
I think a good tinting place should fix your problem.

Yep they will be able to rip the old off, years back I was quoted $100 to remove old rear glass on a sedan, on a hatch/wagon its much easier to get at. Definitely dodgy film tint you are dealing with.

definitely sounds like an aftermarket dodgy......

Does anyone have any experience with Tint Professor? They quoted me a good price to remove and re-tint.

Any other recommendation happily taken under consideration.
