Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

You mean just the hand held controller unit for sale? Cause I didn't think you could actually sell the remap as it's individual vehicle specific isn't it.

After doing a stage 1 APR tune, is there a specific down pipe people tend to opt for?

          Stage 1 doesn't need a downpipe.

Add a downpipe then you should get a stage 2 tune. If you buy an APR downpipe the tune is included in the price (or it used to be).

If you just want to add a DP with your stage 1 then the SPM is a very nicely made unit. I think the CTS is nice too. Both are available from dubaddiction.

Another worth looking at is the Australian made units from ReCode Tuning at Miranda. Really nicely made.

Thanks for that! Really handy info. The recode units look excellent.

+1 on stg 1 not requiring a dp.
a dp on the otherhand, if done properly, requires a tune. i was intially planning on getting the apr dp first then tune months later, however i was advised that this is not recommended and shouldn't b done. so i got the tune (stg 1) instead of the dp that day, and a couple of months later, the full exhaust (dp + cb).

+1 on the apr dp including the stg 2 tune.
