Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Adaptive Chassis Control on RS

  • Adaptive Chassis Control on RS

In the specs for the RS, it's listed as having Adaptive Chassis Control.... Which one would assume is the same as on the Volkswagens (where they call it DCC, presumably because ACC would be Adaptive Cruise Control.)

It seems odd to me that this feature is not mentioned anywhere else in the brochure, and it also doesn't appear in the Driving Mode Selection.

My brother has the Mk 7 Golf GTI Performance which is similar in many ways to the RS (right down to the silly noise generator), and on that you can set the mode of the DCC in the Driving Mode Selection.

When I test drove the RS I couldn't tell any difference in the suspension feel between Sport and Normal modes..

This all makes me wonder whether the RS does actually have the same Adaptive Chassis Control or whether this is a mistake in the brochure...

Anyone know for a fact? Any new RS owners that can comment? Is there anything in the owners manual about it? (On that topic, is there a pdf version of the owners manual available?)

    Nick

Doesn't have DCC, which i'm happy for as it rides perfectly fine on the stock suspension. From people I've talked to they leave it in comfort or normal anyway as sport is too harsh on our roads, more so with the 19s on the GTI performance

This is what I am slightly confused about... I guess it depends what "DCC" is..

In all the marketing for the Golf and Passat, they refer to "Adaptive Chassis Control (DCC)", so it seemed reasonable to assume "DCC" was VAG's acronym for "Adaptive Chassis Control" (presumably was because the acronym "ACC" was already taken by "Adaptive Cruise Control").

So perhaps my question would be better restated as:

What is the difference between the "Adaptive Chassis Control" on the RS and the "Adaptive Chassis Control" on the Golf/Passat?

Does the RS have the same electrically adjustable dampers, but you just don't get to ferkle with the settings via the driving mode selection?

No adjustable dampers. The only thing adjustable thing the RS has is the mode select. Sport, Normal Eco via the RS mode button. It's more to do with the steering, throttle and gearbox settings.

No adaptive chassis control just cruise with the front radar to keep the set distance you like from the vehicle in front.
All sport mode does is sharpen the throttle, make the steering weightier and turn on the noise maker.
However, it also makes the cruise control behave a little differently as in it will accelerate quicker to the selected speed than it will in eco.

Does anyone know if it's possible to retrofit the Adaptive Chassis Control from golf/passat into an RS?
Presuming you could rewrite the ECU software?
                What hardware is involved?

                THEN: MY10 Black Magic RS

don't know why youd bother, it is a gimmick.
