  • Octavia MK3 Cargo Barrier?

I have been searching all night and can't find anything, does anyone know if there is a cargo /dog barrier to buy for the Octavia Mk3?

I have been looking at the travall one but it looks like it will not work with a sunroof.

Possibly search for Dog Barrier or guard & also make a few human-to-human enquiries as it could be that the barrier fits with the sunroof but doesn't comply with the AU std when a sunroof is fitted.

Skoda call it a trunk grille. partno is 5E9 071 159

Apparently a lot of people aren't impressed with having to drill the car to make it fit. One guy fitted a Golf MKv unit that he had (no drilling) and say's it fit's satisfactorily. Maybe a MK2 unit will fit?

        Hi,

I've been doing some searching as well... have a look at Dog guard-gate - Page 2 - Skoda Octavia III (2013 onward) - BRISKODA.net - Page 2 - The Skoda Forum and Community where Matty658 says that he has taken a barrier out of a Golf (mk5/6) and used it satisfactorily in an Octavia.

Last week I picked up an Octavia MY14 TDI vRS, and looking for a barrier to go between the front and back seats to keep my dogs from jumping into the front. They are pretty well behaved and I doubt they'd ever actually do it, but I need something that makes it look like I am at least trying to meet recent law changes. I want them on the back seat so I can load up the boot with other stuff.

Anyway will keep an eye on the thread and post with pics once I find what I need...

            What size dog?

We use one of those $20 seat protectors from The Reject Shop. It attaches to the F&R head rests & makes a cloth barrier to the front which also stops the dog falling into the foot well.

He also wears a harness like this which works really well:

I have two Finnish Lapphunds (about 15-18Kg).

I have one of those seat protectors as well... the younger (12 months) dog, doesn't like travelling much so she sleeps in the foot well behind the passenger seat. The seats on the vRS have a one piece back without adjustable headrests. They sort of look like proper racing seats but they do still recline. Fortunately the straps for the front are long enough to go around the headrest part of the seat.

Since I have two dogs I don't really want to put them in harnesses as I figure they will just get tangled up.

My plan at the moment is to put a barrier between the front and back seats. This will allow them some freedom to move without 'distracting the driver' but should be enough to stop them flying around in the event of an accident. I will also get a barrier to fit above the back seats to prevent any luggage or stuff flying from the back compartment into the passenger area. It will also hopefully stop the dogs from trying to jump through when I open the back door.

I have just ordered from Tavall one of the barriers to go above the back seat. It was a lot cheaper to get it sent from the UK than buying a Milford here in Australia, by about $300....

I have ordered one a barrier from Travall to go above the back seat. I will let you know how much room it takes up once I install it.

Our dog is a Standard Poodle. He weighs 20kg. He loves the harness (you show it to him & he immediately sits & raises his head so you can put it on) and I keep the attachment lead short enough that he can just sit up. I can't imagine there would be a tangling issue wit 2 dogs.

I think without a harness, if there was an accident, even with a barrier, there would be enough momentum to injure the dog.

I am in a similar boat, 25kg and 35kg. I would put them in the back seat if i could trust them to not stand on the door cards and scratch bits.

I have used a sling between front and back seat headrests before. With the wagon, just put the dog in the boot. He used to just lay down and sleep, so pretty easy. I think by law now you have to have the dog buckled in don't you?

The harness is a great idea, and beyond protecting the dog,
you don't want 20kg flying through the air and hitting your head (goodnight to both parties)

My wife put the back seat up without correctly locking it in place
Days later I had to do an emergency stop from only 60km/h
There was plenty of energy in the seat as it slammed back down

I don't know anything about this one, but it looks like it's specific for the Octavia III:

Can't see from the pics whether it touches the roof or not.

I have one of these cheapies (currently on special again):

Are you sure you didn't find anything on Travall? They have quite a good range of cargo barriers there.
