The TDI125 ECU needs to be unlocked - I had a good experience with VW Village in Kensington for my Revo tune. They don't like doing Stage 2 though - DPF removal.



Not true - Stage 1 (Revo as an example)
$150 for unlock
$799 (or $899?) for tune

Stage 2 = +$49 ($99?) for difference.
Petrol requires change of downpipe (+$400-$1,000), diesel only requires removal of DPF so stock downpipe can be reused.

Also a question i bought a car that is build march 2012 but compliance date is nov 2013. From my understanding is that the car is 2012 my12 not my13 but on the sale of contract states my13.

so when i sell it few years down the road is it my 12 or my 13? Can anyone chime in ?

Couldn't really feel much of a difference in 0-100 times, but felt much beefier when in traffic and you put your foot down a little.
Manual or DSG? that would also make a difference.

March 2012 (03/12) is MY12. MY13 starts at 07/12. Mine was built 07/11, so its MY12. (Financial year)

dsg...yea thats what i thought that its my12 but the contract says my13? Im confused does that mean ive paid for my13 price when actual fact is 12! Bought it just under 30k with 7k only with leather option

Unfortunately I can't go for the putty road drive. I've done it before in my BMW 335 previously and man that road is nice !! they have resurface the road not too long ago.

I'm interested in seeing what people have done to their vRS TDI and ofcourse TSI. Hopefully can get some ideas.

Nope not me...if it's a liftback then it might be me... I wished i had gone for the wagon but unfortunately when i bought it wagons are not many around .

Perhaps due to demand, the price is where it should be. Is a Phase III GTHO worth $100,000. No. Can you buy one for $30,000. No.

A car is worth what someone will pay for it, regardless of what Glass's guide or anyone else says. Will I sell my mk II 2013 RS to you for $45,000. No. I may consider for $55,000, but even then I may not. This is partly because I cant get another TDI RS wagon in a manual brand new. So to me, it is irreplaceable, regardless of whether someone tells me it is 'worth' $25,000 or $35,000.

It is basic capitalism. Low availability, high demand => increase price. High availability and low demand => low price. Hence why you can buy a 3 year old commodore for under $20k, and why I wont sell my blue RS wagon to you for $55k.

I am sorry you cant find a wagon to buy, but maybe expectations need to be re-adjusted. I remember the first car I bought a manual V6 VR commodore. Took me 6 months to find one, and paid $4k more than an auto of the same year.

I've gone through the same feeling of irreplaceable cars too.. my old AE86 rust bucket

While monitoring the vRS market (when I wasn't ready to buy) I've seen a few go at prices I would have happily snapped them up for. (sub 20K for a MY11 wagon!)

As it always turns out, when I'm ready to buy, there's not many and they are a good 3-5K more than they were going back 2-3 months ago :S

Best I've found is a MY12 hatch for $21K

An MY12 wagon for $26K (add $2K for interstate transport, rego, blueslip).. at that price I'd rather have got an ex-demo I drove LAST YEAR MY13 Wagon for $30K with 4,000kms on the clock!!!
