    Ummm.... R36 ???

I would have gone the Audi Quattro route, except the only VAG wagon I could buy in a manual was a Skoda....

I have zero regrets, but awd would have been a nice option.

Yeah but you're forgetting one major flaw in that plan - VW has to bring that model into the country!

The problem I face is I love the look of the Octy RS and the interior is perfect for me although I prefer my MKV GTI seats for comfort and fitment. So all the other cars people have mentioned I have looked over an pondered about, the R36 is a great platform but I'm not a huge fan of it's looks which is a massive factor for me. All the Audi's I like look nice outside but I don't like the older outdated interiors.

A major part of wanting to work on the Octy RS is there are not many out there let alone many that have had work done to them, I want to be separate from the pack and do something unique.

The cost will be prohibitive and the engineering aspect might be a hurdle with road worthiness/authorities not allowing such a conversion, so I might need to settle for a FWD car the way they were intended from the factory

Thank's for your input though guys I appreciate it, though I fear this may just be a pipe dream

Get a scout and lower it and do a gti or R engine conversion. That would be the cheapest way to do it. You could put an RS kit on it and you would also have the flares from the scout on it for some fat rubber!
Also bypass any issues with engineering as everything should drop straight in.

Would its transmission cope with the added power?

It runs the diesel engine which is pretty torquey. If you get a manual it wouldn't suprise me if it was the same gearbox as the golf R. If not just drop an R box in it with the bevel box aswell! But I doubt you would need to.

New gearbox; rear >everything<; driveshafts; fuel tank; etc etc.
Get a wrecked R32 or Scout is what I was told, was looking into it myself - stage 2 TDI has no grip in the wet

German eBay would be your friend RE: this. Looking at $6k for parts though, if not more... But do it. Shotty the first drive!!

As I'm getting a brand new gearbox under warranty instead (200kk and 3rd synchro disappeared) its just easier for me to do that instead... But how I would have loved an AWD vRS

You're getting a gearbox replaced under warranty and yet you've modified your car? Really?

They replaced my bevel box out of warranty with goodwill and my car is modified. It can be done, just need to be smart about it.

                        Correct!

The car that looks like that ^ is getting a new gearbox under warranty. It was the 3rd gear synchro, so not related to power at all. 3rd/4th share the same synchro ring yet 4th is perfectly fine... When given the details it makes perfect sence. If it were 3rd gear itself then I'm sure I'd have issues.
Also had A/C compressor replaced and the Body Control Module also done (numerous times :/)

What's the specs on the tyres and rims in the pic above? The fit looks perfect front and rear. Spacers on the rears?

                            Golf R (Talledega) reproductions. 18x8 ET45, 235/40R18. No spacers.
IMO the reps look better than the originals, less round in the spokes and 18x8 vs 18x7.5

Sick as those are the exact same specs I've been looking at. You've got eibachs though yeah? And I read in the other thread you also tow a camper trailer? So no rubbing on the rears with those tyres/rims/lowered whilst towing?

Do the fronts poke at all?

fronts appear to be well under
