      very nice.

Can I ask - are they 19x8? what's the offset?

My recently aquired car has a lot of gutter rash, looking at whats availabe, nearly all are 19 or 18x8 (currently has 18x7).

Can we fit 245/40R18 on 8 inch wide wheels with out rubbing?

I think an 8" rim is the smallest you can use with a 245 tyre

Rubbing depends on multiple factors like the offset

245 is a tad too wide for the Octavia (imo),
I would expect some poke and that may spray crap down the side of the car.

          Harlie,

The wheels are second hand replicas so my information could be inaccurate, however I believe they are an 8.5 rim with et45.
The tyres are 235 35 19. The wheels are flush with the guards, which I like as my original 18's sat in further which I didn't like. This was even more pronounced after I fitted the H&R springs especially looking at the rear of the car. I'll post some more pics of the side view. On full lock the wheels don't scrub which I was concerned about.

            Thanks guys.

Whats the offset of the factory RS 18x7?

There is quite a few options with 2nd hand wheels but nearly everything is x8. i would have thought 245/40R18 would provide less issues than 235/45R19 (that zie20t is running on x8.5 wheels in the original thread) as the OD is larger on those 19s

If you're talking about the Mk 2 RS Neptunes then they are 18*7.5 ET51 I believe. Martin will confirm if I'm wrong though as he's the guru when it comes to alloys on the Occy.

Vrs1, do you notice any issues with handling/tracking of the car under WOT now with the wider tyres/rims etc?

No issues so far at all . Driven on highway, done full lock circles, and wot. Rides comparable to 18's probably a bit harsher over rougher roads but not much in it really between the 18's. The wheels came off a gti golf and used to scrub slightly on full lock and sit proud from the wheel arches a bit apparently ( told by the guy I purchased the wheels off).

So, correct me if I'm wrong here...

                    Factory is x7.5 ET51
                    These are x8.5 ET45
Higher number positions the tyre further in toward engine(6mm in ths case)
                    Wheel is 1" wider,
so outer edge of rim will sit 6.5mm further out (half of 1 inch - 6)
inner edge of rim will sit 18.5mm futher in (half inch + 6)

                    Is this right?
So x8 wheels with ET45 will actuall position the outer edge in the same possition as factory?
6mm further in off set + quarter inch extra width per side. (-6 + 6.4)
& inner edge would be 12mm further in toward the engine

The Neptune wheels are 7.5 ET51 or ET52

You have to calculate the distance each rim edge is from the wheel (offset) face
Do that for the Neptune and the after market wheels
Then compare the new wheels to the Neptune measurements to determine the difference

8.0 ET45 will be the same distance to the shock and poke out by 12mm
8.5 ET45 will be 7mm closer to the shock and poke out by 19mm
                      (I think 8.0 ET45 is 12mm~13mm from the shock)
