Sometimes. Sometimes the monkey looking after that posts dumb things like check out the RS Octavia in our configurator, and then has 5 million people point out that they don't have it on the OZ Octavia configurator. This has happened more than once so reading and comprehension must not be a requirement to work there.

      no haven't seen that
still got my training wheels on - still writing scoda instead of skoda
noted the nav unit plays dvds was my latest discovery @ < 5kms
hope I can load POIs for safety cameras easier than updating maps

Skoda came bach and confirmed map updates are not included in servicing. They actually referred to the latest map version being version 7 so this doean't seem right for the Columbus in Octavia III as noted in earlier posts.

LOL, lets hope they know which model car you've got when they're servicing your car then!!!

Figured out how to get the latest 2014 maps from VW servers, but I don't have my car yet . The update requires a 32gb sd card (~$20-40) which you can use later for media. Separate maps are available for Amundsen/Discover Media which I posted in the Golf 7 forum but no one seems to care (what a boring lot).

Can't confirm 100% that the update works til I try it out though!

I checked out the Golf 7 forum - it seemed to a bit different as it seemed to indicate the SD card with the map on it needed to be retained.
I don't have an SD in situ on my current version of maps.
However I note my Skoda media thingo has 2 SD card slots - can't think why 2 unless it was similar thinking. It reminds me of my first twin floppy computer many moons ago.
I'm still hopeful of a Skoda solution to update the maps. I sent a message via facebook to Skoda Australia (as suggested in an earlier post). Skoda to their credit did get back to for my VIN and indicated that one of the team would be looking at the issue so hopefully some positive news this week. it all seems so unnecessariliy over complicated....

Yeah you can use any SD card to update the discover pro, it'll copy the maps to its internal drive. Then you can use the card for whatever.
