89-90 Apollo. It was designed not to run at idle, with a solenoid cutout - was told this by a mechanic who I respect, and that was consistent with what we experienced - stuck in traffic in summer - definitely not fun. Would cope - just - on country trips, but I simply could never say it was top class! I hated it, so did my missus, and the Scout's Climatronic has been a major step up. Maybe the guy who serviced it after i bought it and charged me plenty simply ripped me off??? It was obviously better than the Volvo 145 I had before the Apollo - it had NO aircon!

Different folks find different things. I went from a 06 VE Calais V (v8 ) to the vRS Skoda, and the calais a/c was substantially more powerful than the skoda's. It's not that the skoda didnt do the job (and in qld in summer) but moreso that the calais did the job faster, and at far lower a/c settings than the skoda did. Who knows what kind of temps the calais could reduce the interior heat down from, but it would be pretty bloody impressive. I manually (climate control) put it on max a few times, and 10 mins tops was the most anyone could handle before asking it to be switched down. The fan volume was like a high powered petrol leaf blower it punched so much air out, and it was frosty cold!

My little 7sp DSG is a dream compared to the Gallardo (eGear) I drove today.

Hi there, just another quick question on reliability - how are the 77 TSI 1.2 L and 90 TSI 1.4L petrol engines with reliability (and maintenance costs)? Know there is a lot of stuff on the DSG gearboxes, but would be good to know how these engines are lasting - should be a few past the 100,000km mark already?

I have a Skoda 2012 MY12 Fabia 1.2L 77TSI and 2012 MY13 Octavia 1.4L 90TSI Liftback, both also with DSG boxes, so quite interested in any longer term observations and comments, thanks!
