  • Keyless entry with keys?

Picked up our new '14 Octavia Elegance TDI last friday. Totally in love with it!

Got the tech pack option with the keyless entry and push button start.

I was expecting a small fob but instead I was handed 2 sets of actual keys. Now there are no key holes anywhere on the car. Anyone got any guesses what they are for?

It's a shame as the keys are actually quite large.

You'll need the key to open the door manually if for whatever reason the battery goes dead.

I think its pretty cool that you can smear your finger along to lock it though, personally I'll be keeping my key in the messenger bag i take around with me most of the time.

My other car with keyless start and entry is still the same sized fob, but pulls apart to reveal a backup key inside. I'm guessing you have just the normal flip key? Same difference I guess except you can accidentally flip it open. I just have a keyhole on the drivers door and nowhere else. It locks/unlocks by pushing a small button on the front two doors or the back rear hatch. I never take my keys out of my pocket or bag anymore. Annoying though if you leave the car running and get out to grab something in the back, as they scream alarms to remind you the key is still in there which wakes up the kids.

I'd understand a back up key, if I could find a key hole?

Should be hidden in the door handle. Pop out a little square if I'm not mistaken and insert the key

Crazy idea but it's probably in the owners manual (paper or electronic version)

If you look under the drivers side door handle (the part that doesn't pull out) you will see a notch where you can stick a screwdriver in and lever off the cover. Once that is done there is a standard key barrel to use your key blade in when your fob battery goes dead.
