Number plate holder mk3 octavia

I have ordered some personalised plates for the missus for her 30th birthday which will neatly co-incide with delivery of the new car. When I ordered my rs, I bought personalised euro plates (in QLD) which the dealer fitted - with self tapping screws straight into the metal tailgate!

So this time, in preparation of delivery, I want to have number plate holders that fit the factory location and hold the numberplates securely. The plates are slimline euro plates (378x100 I think) front and rear. Have seen some plate holders at SCA for ~$50 but just wondering if anyone has experience in how they fit to a stock octavia 3. i want no drilling of tailgate or bumper - only factory positions to be used if possible. I havent fully paid for the plates yet, so could potentially still get full size euros if required. Would prefer to get the slimlines though.

So anyone with a new octavia care to comment? or could you take a pic of front/rear factory positions so I could get a better idea of how it mounts so I can start looking?

The only place I could find to have a plate holder (not a cover that just clips over the front) was Brisbane BMW they sell a kit with a base place that you screw into the two position holes and then you screw the plate with the cover onto the base plate. I can't remember how much it cost.
They did the same to me with my plates too they even did it so tight the plate put deep scratches into the tailgate around the corners of the plate.

My plates were not drilled square so the one on the back of the Skoda was always crooked.

Heres some pics from car sales, the points look pretty good for euro and normal (but euro looks much better on the car).

the holes are already in the bodywork at the rear. If you are bodging it you can drill the plates, which still looks naff.

Alternatively, use double sided tape - I had my nuber plates held on for 4 years with that stuff.

In Europe, they use a plate holder with hundreds of possible screw hole options. Like this.

I'm liking the thought of a carbon fibre look plate to go on my race blue RS with black pack. It's a new option on NSW plates, but not sure if it will look naff?

Cheers for all the replies. I'll let the dealer know that I will be responsible for the plate installation, and give them the details when it comes closer to arrival date.

The bad experience has made me very wary.....dont want the car damaged as badly this time (no damage at all is easily possible!)

I used to do PDs / accessories for a Toyota dealer in the mid-80s. 95% of the number plates were the same standard shape, the remainder being narrower personalised plates.

Do you think that Toyota Australia could make the holes in the body match the standard holes in the number plates?

Do you think the dealer could be bothered to give us an hour to make up a template so all the number plates that had to be redrilled (better than drilling an untreated hole in the boot panel or bumper bar) could be done spot-on? It was a mid-sized dealership delivering about 50 cars per week.

Do you think we could get the service manager to buy some decent drills?

It was even considered a major advancement when the workshop forman gave me a packet of 1000 metric screws ("look after them Son") so that I didn't have to use self-tapers in the pre-threaded holes.

They are on my other car now, but the replacement plates I drilled myself in about 5 seconds perfectly so it was obviously a rush job done by Stevie Wonder.....I've just figured I will get it replaced with a new one next time I need euro holes again, but Vicroads have been increasing the charges of replacements and just swapping between cars. It was about $40 in 2008 and well over $100 3 yrs later the thieves....
