I see you are looking at a similar style wheel as what I went through. In the end I bit the bullet and went the skoda factory turini wheels. I found nothing really measured up after seeming the in the flesh. Plus factory wheels appear less hoonish, and help with resale.

Turini is nice but I prefer the ride on 17"

Fair enough, they're a similar design to an old favourite the OZ Ultraleggera. If you can find the Enkeis at a sharp price then they're a good lightweight wheel.

Agree with Groggyfrog, OEM will always be good at resale time. I'll be keeping my Austins for when it comes time to punt the car on, had I gone with another OEM wheel as opposed to OZ I may have put the Austins up for sale.

Turini is a nice looking wheel. What was the cost per rim from the dealer? I heard $400.

Richmond, though I wouldn't recommend them. Essendon skoda quoted the same price and much more helpful

OEM are a safe bet but they are generally designed for the lowest common denominator (eg: kerb bashers) and therefore generally pretty porky compared to an Enkei or OZ.

OEM 16x6.5 on my Octavia were approx 16kg with 205/55r16 tyre.
BBS (which are generally a little bit heavier than Enkei or OZ) 17x8 with 235/45r17 were 17kg
                  Audi 16x7.5 with 225/55r16 were 20kg
                  Audi 17x7.5 with 225/50r16 were 23kg

It's a decent looking OEM wheel, but that's going to come in at over double your $250/corner budget, unless you can find a dealer who can bring it in cheaper (unlikely). I'm guessing Terons aren't fitted locally to any cars?

You can take the VAT (20%) off that but having had a delivery price from Hortons for GBP60 to post a box that was the size of 2 loaves of bread I think delivery on 4 wheels will kill you.

Have a look at tirerack and theres another UK wheel mob that several here have bought from (can't find a link). tirerack is about $400 for freight.

I realise the VAT comes off, but the freight is a killer and you can add in duties/taxes here - on the right order you might finish ahead if you split it to come under the $1k threshold, but in most cases the extra freight on the split kills it.

For cheap wheels there is BMA Autosport, for a full range there is Performance Alloys, Wheelbase Alloys and Rimstyle.

If you're after good wheels eg. OZ or BBS then in a lot of instances the local option can be cheaper, or close enough that the import hassles/local warranty outweighs the saving.

Thanks guys, I have also just found some alloys in the accessories brochure, they are called "Hawks", waiting for the dealer to come back with price and availability.

So what after market brands that will be safe to buy? OZ / Enkei would be nice but I do realise the cost is over my budget, what about this shop? Wheels

Those Hawks aren't bad - are they the silver or polished/black finish you're looking at?

Given the usual pricing of OEM wheels locally you might find you could stretch to OZs (I'm biased), or Enkeis, basic BBS etc.

I'd be wary of that linked place. I won't go into details publically, suffice to say a friend dealt with them and will be advising all and sundry to steer well clear of them.

                                Probably the silver ones.

                                And thanks for the advise!
