  • Faulty Windscreen Replacement

    Hi All,

Done a google for the Skodia part # but to no avail.

I need the depth measurement of the black strip including dots of a Octavia VRS MK2 MY13. Hoping some one can help me out (ASAP) before 0800 hrs. 23 Apr 2014.

    Long story short.......

I recently had a windscreen replaced under warranty due to a leak at the "A pillar" drivers side.

I complained to the dealer that the job was not done satisfactory and requested it to be fixed... Dealer stated that the screen supplied was as per the VIN of the vehicle and Skoda have probably changed the style in production.

I said why would Skoda change the process, and be open to ridicule from buyers with the roof lining being exposed.

The black strip at the top is narrower than the original screen exposing the roof lining edge, which gives the impression that the lining has dropped (and looks bloody awful).

    Numbers on current replacement screen: Splintex "E6" DOT 24M122 AS1 43R 008594

Depth of solid black strip is 30 mm and 36 mm to the last dot on windscreen just fitted.

    ....................... |
    ....................... | 06 mm Dotted area; and
---------------------- | 37 mm to edge of roof lining.

Sorry for the rant, needed to get it of the chest.

    TIA

The white line below the black strip is the head-lining.

My dimensions are the same as yours but the hood lining is hidden behind the black strip.

    Mine also has 43R008594

What are those circular things? Agree, your windscreen looks stupid

      Thanks for the info Brad.

The circles are reflection of the down lights and plaster over screw holes (relining the carport ceiling)

Not really the solution you may be looking for. But I guess if nothing is resolved between yourself and the dealer you could get one of these and mask it?

          Thanks for the link NOO63N.

The dealer is going to try and take out the screen tomorrow and reposition it. But, Murphy's Law will more than likely take precedence and the screen will get broken, and the car stuck at the dealers for another few days awaiting another new windscreen..

The service manager agreed with me that the windscreen was not done in a professional manner, and was to be rectified.

They managed to pop the windscreen without breaking it, removed the excess sealant from the A pillars, adjust the head-lining and refit the screen.

Looks like new again, so I am a happy camper. Also found out that the replacement screen was done by an outside agency, so I can not really blame the dealership but, they should do a Q&A check on their contractors periodically.

            Cheers
