Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

From what I could see the airbag is above and separate from the whole g-box unit (up in the dash), so I never even had to think about it. Good luck with it and let us know what you find.

It's just dawned on me why you probably never saw it. Euro countries have a bypass switch to turn the airbag off when you have carseats in the front. We don't have that so the switch is probably to do with that. Ours would just be wired in up inside the dash. I can't figure what screw out of the myriad on the side panel is supposed to come out. I figure its just one with the others on the face of the glovebox itself.

Makes sense. The only screw that needs to be removed is obvious as it connects the glovebox to the dash frame. It'll make itself obvious! You could always remove the front ones and see what's stopping the GB from coming out.
