Pioneer Receiver - Will it work with the 08 Octavia?

Hey guys, I came across this deal on Ozbargain and I was thinking of purchasing it for my Octy 08 as it seems like a good price for a brand name unit with a free reverse camera.

Question for those in the know with the Octy electrical set up. Can it be fitted to my 2008 Octavia? It says it will fit the Octavia from 09 onwards and the Jetta from 05 onwards (do they have the same wiring set up?). The seller couldn't give me a definite answer on whether it could be fitted to the car.

Any advice would be helpful.

Any headunit will work, what most likely won't is your in car bits, eg parking sensors etc with it. Some have boxes that will allow the steering wheel controls to still work, eg my Hyundai Santa Fe has recently had an Alpine unit with the adaptor so those still work, but CANBUS things usually not unless its made to like the Zenecs.

Sorry I should have looked at it closer, the FL had different CAN BUS so it may or may not work, but looks to be made for the FL electronics which were slightly different.

if the its not suited with the can-bus, u'll end up having battery drain issues.

$499 = worth investigating / taking a punt

looking at the back, it doesn't appear to be a quadlock connector so you'd need some form of adaptor block?

Starts to get expensive if you want everything to work

if the vehicle is a 2005 VW and newer, excluding the Golf 7 or 2013 and newer beetle (Amarok hasn't been tested yet) if the car is fitted with factory display for sensors and climate control, the canbus module with steering wheel control patch lead, antenna adaptor is $345 complete. It will retain display of factory sensors and climate display on to the Pioneer unit.

If you are just wanting to retain just the steering wheel controls and nothing else, the module with patch lead is $115, if your vehicle is fitted with a factory amplifier and you want to retain this, it's $269.
