Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Clever KESSY

    Just having a play with KESSY on my new Octavia and must say I'm impressed, it's a step up on the Smart key system on my Toyota.

    Couldn't find this mentioned anywhere else, a couple of clever features;
    1. If you open the tailgate while the car is locked and leave your key in the boot, the boot will pop open. Impossible to leave your key in the boot.
    2. If any windows are left open when you lock the car, continuously touching the door sensor will close the windows.

    Those little tech "touches" are often overlooked but certainly worth having. Usually keeping the lock button on the fob pressed down will close all windows, even on the previous model.

      Is this the 2014 model, or the 2013 (last of the Mk2 FL)

      I know I can quite easily lock my keys in the boot... *facepalm*

          Our 2011 Santa Fe makes an almighty beep at you and won't lock any doors if you have a key inside anywhere. My wife repeatedly carries hers in bags she leaves in the back. I wish she wouldn't.

            And hold open down on the fob, opens all the windows. Great when returning to a car on a hot day.

            As per the lock key in the boot, (I have done this deliberately a few times on various cars.) but you can have doors open, lock the car, then close the relevant doors, and the car will lock and flash lights once all the doors are closed.
