Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Changed the engine oil today
Was going to change the DSG oil also but didn't have a 14mm hex to remove the drain plug - will do it next weekend

Tightened my front suspension arm mounts - they weren't very tight
Hoping this will solve my creaking problem under high corning loads

Installed the GoFastBits diverter valve update
Makes a bit more noise - no performance difference noticed
My car (2011) already had the updated VAG diverter so there was no need to replace it

Installed the HPA lower interlock mount - red/soft one
This has given me some mild vibrations in reverse and when accelerating from low rpm (below 2000rpm)
It's almost perfect - so close - hoping I can live with it
2012.1 Skoda Octavia VRS DSG Wagon - Carbonio cold air intake and pipe - HPA Motorsports BBK 355mm rotors 6 pot calipers
APR Stage II ECU - APR 3" exhaust down pipe & high flow catalyst
APR/HP Roll bars - Eibach springs and Bilstien shocks
Supaloy lower control arms - Enkei 18*8 Wheels

Is that the same as the GFB Blowoff valve?

GoFastBits stuff is for the Nissan 350Z

hey didn't you tell me that would make zero difference when I said I installed one??

and also, which arms did you re-torque up? I have that knocking sound. seems like something is loose when it shouldn't be. might take a visit to the hoist this weekend and go mad with the torque wrench.

Correct - and that's the outcome I've got - curiousity killed the cat
I'll have to go hard over the macquarie pass

Hmmm, a knock would be something different

I had creaking sounds when cornering very hard and on change of transition from hard accelleration to hard braking
I've tightened the two big bolts over the rear bush at the rear of each front control arm

heheh the only reason why I installed one is for the spring pressure as my boost levels are above stock. I know there is no performance difference. flutters a little and makes a louder sound now

ok, im still going over the car on the weekend - hopefully - to make sure nothing is loose. if you found something loose, then chances are most cars need going over.

I went for a turbosmart and while quite subtle in the car, it does make me smile while dosing next to a big wall, and turns civilian heads lol

I know you are running a non-VW rated xw-40 oil for a bit more viscosity while on the track. Mobil1 have a VW502.00 0w-40 - might cover both bases? I bought some yesterday - $67 for a 5.1quart (4.8L) bottle
