I'm running stage 2 on petrol manual and couldn't be happier. The dogbone insert helped the most with tramp, it only does it now on rough bumps and in the wet. Running these ps3's the wheels spin a little in 1 and 2nd but it's still a lot faster than stock through these gears. As stock it only slightly just spun in first on a good road, now it's easy though. I made the car the way it is to enjoy mountain cruising, and track once or twice a year- this leaves me running it in 3-4th gear 80% of the time, and for this it's perfect. Power is soo useable, and tramping not a problem, even in wet conditions in 3rd+

For those of you concerned with vibration from the dogbone insert, I fitted half of a butchered insert into my car and I don't get vibrations.

Also, the more miles you have the more movement in the original insert as they flex more over time. I didn't do mine until after 100,000km.

I have one brand new whiteline to suit the newer style for $30, never fitted

How much do these help with axle tramp?

From personal experience on manual it made a massive difference- worth ten times what you pay. I'm running the superpro one. But for dsg people have had varied opinions. When it has worked it's worked well.

Only selling cos I got the wrong model for my car, older engine code

                Interesting.

So the one you've got is for the newer engine, such as in my MY11?

For $30 I reckon it's worth a go if it suits.

the stage 2 tune comes with the apr downpipe. currently its priced at $1375, from goapr.
Hey guys, super old post revival, but still relevant I hope. I can't quite work out how much it will be for the d/p and stage 2 tune ...

Darkshadow, you make it quite clear that the Stg2 tune comes with the APR downpipe but ..

Stage 1 tune 1,495 - APR - High Performance Development for Audi, VW and Porsche Vehicles.
Dump pipe $1,375 - APR - High Performance Development for Audi, VW and Porsche Vehicles.

I would have thought that these are two individual costs to be added together ? What am I reading wrong here ?

You do have to add those 2 together.

Darkshadow probably already had a Stage 1 and then upgraded the DP and got the tune at the same time.

                          correct....stg 1 done 1st, then i got downpipe.
apr downpipe requires a retune, hence it takes u up to a stg 2 tune.
so, yes combine the two for the total cost.

u can't go to the apr downpipe directly - u need the stg 1 tune first.

also, because the RS comes std with the uprated high pressure fuel pump, you get to stg 2+ when combined with the apr catback.

On a pre-MQB platform you can get a quality DP for <$1k. You can get a stage2 tune for <$1k without having to pay for the stage 1 tune. Money left over for other mods.

Yes, this is true but not what I was saying.
For APR you have to pay for a stage1 tune before you can get the stage 2 with the DP. It's still a premium price compared to many of the other vendors.

So if you want to run stage2 with an APR DP then it's $2500-$3000. The others are nowhere near that.

Also, if you don't run an APR tune but want to buy their DP there's no discount for the stage 2 you don't use.
