Rockdale Skoda want the car all day so hopefully that means they will replace the clutches as well as the mechatronics.

They had the car all day. As well as sorting the mechatronics gearbox issue they also replaced a camshaft component which has a separate recall number. No clutch replacement.

I had no issue with the car prior to the recall and I can't say I notice any difference after. If anything its a bit jerky from 1-2 but not bad and I suspect that's par for the course.

I picked the car up from a a salesman after the service guys had gone home so did not have a chance to ask any questions.

Oh and it's so clean you could eat your dinner off the engine.

Mine done last month after car stopped on the highway and wouldn't restart. Towed to dealer where it was fixed only to still have a shudder/judder still there. 2 weeks later I get the car back with replaced clutches and a $1300 bill for the work carried out.

On the invoice it reads, replaced clutches after premature failure. How can this not be covered under the recall?

I realise its out of warranty being a 2009, the car has only just done 50tlkms and hasn't reached its "so called first gearbox service"

Love the car, just hate the service complications with dealers.. Grr !

Is yours 7speed DSG or 6 speed?
Still very low km and they should've look at that.

The Yetis been done, it had a horrible rattle at idle. They had the car 2 consecutive days. As far as I know the clutch packs have been replaced as well as the mechatronics unit. I believe the camshaft recall was done too. It seems impossible for them to actually write down what they ve (southern classic) done. If we don't get a written report by next week, I m going in there to kick some heads.

I realise there are ~30,000 VAG cars to be done so it's likely to take a while; just wondering where we are on the list.
Mine's been done, as of last week (in Brisbane)...I'd already had a complete failure and a clutch pack replacement, so I'm not sure if the same fix was applied then.

Just wondering how long it will last, now that the car has just come out of warranty....

Mine is 7 speed gearbox. I agree hat should at least looked at he Kim's before charging. The reason they gave was, is hasn't been serviced. Which is annoying, as the first gearbox they said is due at 60ks, so it wasn't even up to that. No reply could be given by the dealer. And since then, the dealer now says gearbox service now due at 120ks, yet I heard from another dealer, lifetime oil in the gearbox..
No one gives the same answer....

Hey guys, just purchased a used 2009 MY10 SKODA Octavia with a dsg gearbox. How can i tell if it has gone through the recall process. I did notice a little recall sticker when inspecting the spare tyre. It was slightly above the spare to the right hand side, it was black and silver and said recall with a date stated on it. I hope this was for the dsg box.

Call Skoda AUS and ask - I think they'd tell you.

My update: getting the recall and warranty work done at Essendon Skoda tomorrow.

The recall was NOT for the clutch packs, though there have been many problems with these. Fortunately I convinced my dealer to replace mine before the warranty ran out. The recall was for the mechatronic unit.

Hey guys, found out the recall code 37G8, It was done on the 20.5.13, dealer no. 23181. Would that code refer to the dsg gear box?

Got my car done yesterday (recall + clutch packs replaced). All good - drives just the same as before but without the shudder on acceleration.

I got to drive a new Yeti (it's only done 600 km) for the day. The interior is extremely similar to the Octavia - switches, gauges, stereo, steering wheel, MFD, seats etc. It also had the 1.8TSI, but with fulltime 4x4 and the higher profile, the fuel economy is a fair bit worse than the Octavia. Definitely prefer my Octavia, but it's not bad for a small SUV.
