  • Launch Control in the current Octavia vRS

Am curious to know if anyone can confirm that the current Octavia vRS has launch control. The reason I ask is my Uncle (being the cool Uncle) showed me he can do launch control in his Tiguan. I didn't believe him at first until he told me to try it in his car (my Octy is manual so no need for launch control...) he even showed me in the drivers manual (not called 'Launch control' but something to that effect)

First turn off ESP, plant your foot firmly on the brake, slowly accelerate and it will start revving... keep going and it holds at about 3500-4000rpms and then release the brake... an almighty bang sound of a clutch dropping and your off!

Anyone game to try and or tell me this is possible in the current Octy's?

Yes the current Octavia DSG has launch control.

Car in "S" mode - turn off traction control - left foot on the brake - right foot on the accelerator and hold on tight

Yeah don't make a habit of it though, VW/Skoda aren't real fond of cars that have had it used very often. I wonder if the computer keeps a record of it?

I've done it once on mine.
Damn is all I can say.

I don't plan on doing it again because of the sheer madness it places on the various components.

If they didn't like it, they wouldn't enable it or make it available on a car.

It doesn't really do much to the car, it causes a lot of wheel spin.

If it was manual, and you drop the clutch, its exactly the same thing happening.

Um dropping the clutch repeatedly in manual isn't so good for things either plus these days Police have special fines for this kind of stuff now and the ability to donate your car to some P platers learning how to make it fully hectic at TAFE.

Is launch control standard on all cars that have the DQ250 DSG?

The Tiggy will get ya everytime mate. With the Haldex it ****s all over the front wheel drive cars, especially when its chipped.
