  • Are they serious?

If anyone has Skoda Australia added on in Facebook, you might have seen them post that UK ad for the RS and they said we have to wait a little longer for them. So I said hopefully not too long, Oct/Nov?

They said last QTR 2014, WTF?

But is that calendar year 2014 (Oct-Dec 2014) or last quarter of the model year which is the July to Sept 2014 period?
The latter sounds plausible to me the former sounds a little too far away to be realistic. There can't be any compliance issues that means we need to wait till the MY15 cars arrive otherwise all new Octavias would be in that position.

Nope I kid you not. Last QTR in 2014. People are going nuts at the post too. Skoda are officially a waste of space in Australia. Just when you think they can't botch anything else up. We don't have the new model here yet, they aren't making the prior model anymore so WTF are they supposed to sell with the flagship missing for over a yr.

My only guess is VW are trying to protect their business at all costs locally here at the detriment of Skoda, probably as they know how they flog VW in every other country. Bugger

It's definitely a typo as there were other questions on the arrival of the octavia rs to which they replied 4th quarter 2013.

They were quite clear, it was Skoda Australia directly and they said last QTR. They had plenty of opportunity to correct it if wrong but didn't.

Just in thinking though, it could be the last QTR of the 2014fy which would be Apr-June. That would be later than predicted but typical for Skoda oz. It would also allow buildup towards it with the other Octavia's coming here soon.

Car companies do not work in financial years. EVER.
If its reported correctly it is either last quarter of the calendar year or last quarter of the model year.

              that sounds familiar.

              and......
if the skoda aus website is anything to go by, then the skoda aus fb page is probably also maintained & run by vw aus!!!

Also Boon, the 2013 qtr statement has each time been for the base models. I specifically asked if the RS was coming in oct/nov and they said no, last QTR in 2014. The new model has always been set to come last QTR. the RS is usually 6mths behind when an update comes out so looks like we wait until the UK has finished selling the first yrs worth.

Basically they will be MY15 pretty much. As I said the news has not gone down well at all.

I wouldn't take Skoda's facebook page as gospel Woofy. I told them the dealer I took my car to said my DRL's and cornering fogs on my Octy 118 were not optioned and couldn't be turned on as the Aus delivered ones didn't get them. Skoda FB page also said the same thing to me but said they would get customer care to call me, when they called (it was VW) they said they checked my VIN and it was not optioned and that there would be no loom going to them even though the globes were there... Well a quick play with VCDS and I have both turned on.
Moral of the story, the head sales man at the dealer knows jack **** about his own brand he's selling and neither does the FB page OR Cust Service so I'd def take it with a grain of salt and go with final qtr 2013

Well that's a tad different. They aren't supposed to let customers know that premium options can be enabled with a cable. Mazda work on that entire premise to make their different models. I'm hoping they are wrong, but when the entire post is about the RS so you would think they would be a tad careful.
