Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Skoda adventues in Tasmania

Took the Skoda on holiday to Tassie for 11 days and was very impressed by our 90TSI. Did almost 2000kms bringing the total milage to 5600. Kept an eye on fuel consumption as it is 160.0 + a litre down there for the premium stuff and did the whole trip in 2 and a half tanks at around 6.5l per 100kms.

Saw plenty of other Skodas as well though the first one had Qld plates on it.

Near Gunns plains caves on Day 2 during a slowish drive from Stanley to Hobart

Found a friend in Devonport - first of many in Tas FL an PFL Oty wagons, liftbacks and a RS Fabia in launceston

Overnight stay at Ross - came back a week or so later for the Picnic at Ross event

    Detour to Avoca via Cambelltown

Going through Bothwell after a visit to Australias oldest Golf course

    Another Octy in downtown Hobart

After the drive through the forest to Ida Bay Railway and Hastings Caves

On top of Mount Wellington, windy and 3 degrees

Richmond on the way North East

    Derby

Finally accross the road from the Hotel in launceston

Overall a fun trip, manages to stay right in the middle of the car district in both Hobart and Launceston, picked up some spares from a Jag mechanic down the road, near the Skoda dealer in Hobart and was across from a Mercedes/Subaru place in Launceston.

That Superb wagon actually belongs to a local, his family own the vegetable processing plant over the road from my house. So I see it most days

Looks like you had a good trip! And very good mileage there too! Better than I get in my TDI, but then I do tend to have a lead foot..

Ahh the Qld plates confused me, it was the first skoda I saw and I thought not even a native car. Good lot of cars down there from memory saw 1 PFL octavia liftback, 2 FL liftbacks, 3 wagons including a nice TDI in Richmond and the RS Fabia.

Was surprised how capable the 90tsi was and how good the consumption was given the roads and that I wasn't driving like an economy run.

Did the electronic door locks work there or did you have to use the key the old fashioned way?

Yes, everything worked up on the mount no need for keys, only surprise was the car steamed up a bit and took a while to demist.
