Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • The Touch Up Guys

Hi, I have a couple of stone chips on my front passenger door and am thinking about getting them repaired. The dealer did a fairly poor attempt at fixing this (it's an ex-demo car).

I have heard about The Touch Up Guys and seems to be a hit or miss depending on who you get to do the job.

In my area (Eastern suburbs of Melbourne) there are 3 touch up guys, Chormew, Ayhan, and Nathan. Has anyone here had any experience with these guys?

    Thanks.

The Touch Up Guy (Chris? In the east FTG/Scoresby area) I have used is fantastic. He has done work on my Skoda, our S3 and our previous 3 Series BMW Coupe. I'm at home at the moment I have his card on my desk in the office I think but as a franchised operation people have to work in the territory that their franchise covers.
I have even had a scrape on a wheel rim repaired.

The quality of the repair will also depend exactly where the chip is. If its right in the middle of the door panel then a spray job might be the only real option that works properly.
