Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • New car opinions - Fabia RS or Octavia 118

Hey guys, getting a new company car in a month or 2, and (sadly) the boss rejected the idea of an Octavia RS! But got the OK for an Octavia 118, or possibly a Fabia RS. Just wanted to get opinions from people that own them, or just peoples opinions in general.
Will be a wagon either way cause I need the space; but torn between getting the bigger, more practical, better spec'd Octavia, and the slightly smaller but probably much more fun Fabia RS.
Either way, both would be a better drive than my current Hyundai Tucson!
Current - 2013 Skoda Octavia 118TSI DSG Wagon - Arctic Green
    Gone! - 2008 Hyundai Tucson
    Other half's car - 2006 VW Passat 2.0TSI Sedan

Octavia 118, I would say the Fabia RS hands down, but it looks like sh*t in the wagon version ;(.

I think both great cars.... just choose based on space required.

The other thing is there is that polo gti engine problem all over the 6R forums to do with the oil consumption etc.... since hte fabia RS has the same engine, might be a possible issue there.

Take a test drive of the 118 TSI - you might be pleasantly surprised. It's not as quick off the mark as the Fabia RS, but it's still fun and has a LOT more room.
