  • Savages - one month old today and already carpark scratches

Had the occy exactly one month today and already scratches including a nasty one on the ridge of the front guard. Just unbelievable, luckily none are too deep and no dents just yet.

Question is can i get those touch up applicators from dealers? I found a set in mercedes 190e i got for next to nothing so will play around with that car before tackling anything more expensive.

The scratch on the front guard and door was only done today or Monday as I washed the car Sunday so would have noticed it. Know a very good painter/panel beater so might just ask them about fixing it, last then it should be totally invisible. Or I could just leave it for now as I am sure will get more scratches where i park it. Guess it is the drawback of buying new and not SH.

I always park as far away from the shops in a carpark as I can and so far havent got any marks on either car.

I was very close to buying a new car this time, having always bought older cars before (from a few years old to vintage). Being completely freaked out by the thought of scratches and bumps to my new pride and joy was what convinced me that I am just not cut out for new car ownership.

Mate it doesn't matter is its spankers or second hand if u love your car every scratch hurts. My skoda is a late 07 and I find new marks on it nearly everytime I wash it. I've had 4 dents put in it by doors in the six months I've owned it. In general people suck!!!

Managed to remove most of the damage today with the magic of polish. Luckily nothing was too deep so mostly polished out. Bad news is big chip on the plastic door strip i still there but sooner it there than on the metal door.

Guess it is all part of having a new car but it is still annoying.

The bottom corner of one of my doors is bent in a little bit... My fault.
I was devastated. So was the bloke who's weighbridge I was on - although his poison is an Alfa 157 Wagon.

... Turns out my TDI weighs in at 1,680kg!... Ouch!
