Replacement wheels for Octavia vRS

My standard wheels are gutter marked all around, and now I have the opportunity to buy a set of 18" OEM VW Davenport wheels from a Tiguan.

Question, I have is does anyone know what width they actually are? All reference data I've seen says 18x7, but the guy is telling me 18x7 to the inside of the rim, but 18x8 to the outside.

Help appreciated.

The specs for the Davenport wheels are 7.0 J x 18 ET 43.

The seller, assuming that's what he actually said, makes no sense at all.

However, fitting a 225/40 R18 tyre on a 7.0 x 18 wheel will render the vehicle unroadworthy. A 225/40 R18 tyre should only be fitted on 7.5 - 9.0 rims.

Alternatively, you could fit a 215/45 R18 93Y XL tyre, which can be fitted on 7.0 - 8.0 rims.

Rim specs are measured bead to bead (ie the inside of the wheel) so the wheels is an 7" wheel, even though the outer measurement is 8"

I'm guessing you have the factory Neptune wheels?
They are 18" * 7.5 ET51 - these ones:

Yes those Neptune rims look like the ones. After seeing the above photo I would assume they are 18x7.5.

Not sure what generated the comment about tyre size? Unless there was an assumption my current wheels were 18x7.5 and I was going to swap tyres over?

It's a my10 facelift model, so pretty sure the standard rims are 18x7 already.

In anycase the plan was to get the rims then get a tyre shop to put the appropriate sized tyre on.

The dimensions of the original wheels on an Octavia vRS are 7.5 J x 18 ET 51.

Regarding tyres, just thought I'd mention it, as not many people know what the appropriate fitments are, or how the choice of wheel determines what tyre/s can be fitted (and vice-versa).

neptunes are 18x7.5, the pre-facelift models are 18x8.

If you are referring to the Zenith wheel, it has the same dimensions as the Neptune wheel (7.5 J x 18 ET 51).

The only 8.0 J x 18 ET 45 fitment I could find is the B14 wheel.

Most Golf MK6 wheels...in fact most VW / Audu wheels will fit with no dramas...
