some dealers are uninformed, or don't care.

one of the selling points of the dealer I got my car from was he mentioned it had 5 years unlimited KM warranty.

Spoke to Skoda and they told me the same thing, as my car was built in 2011 (even though it is an MY12) I am applicable for the 2 year additional warranty.

They could not indicate yet how the customer is updated with this information as its "Automatic". the dealer is following up with Skoda to get me the full details and paperwork.

I have emailed Skoda head office and received the following reply:

        "Thank you for your email,

We are looking into this for you and will get back to advise you if you are applicable for the 5 year warranty."

So no definite answer as yet....if ever....

it's a shame they aren't passing on the 2 extra years of DSG warranty that all post 2009 DSG VW are getting. I was told by Skoda Australia that it is only being passed on to VW badged cars, what a joke!

Both the dealer who sold me the car and the manager have left the dealership, I have not received any information or written confirmation since my last post. I presume they will give it only when selling the car and not retroactive.

Ha same experience here too, I called them about a follow up issue that they were supposed to have fitted to my car and everyone has left.

However I rang skoda directly and they said they can check the vin number and tell you if it is covered.

bought feb last year. I think they put it on the previous year's models to get them out of the showroom.

also, although I was informed of this when I bought the car, I got a letter maybe 1-2 months after purchase to confirm the additional 2 years factory warranty
Same with me, although it was probably 6 months till the letter came. 7 years warranty would be a dream, lol

I did get a call from VW customer care yesterday regarding another issue ask about this from my understanding the letter was sent out to the Skoda dealerships after I bought the car as this was a Bonus to promote selling the MY12 Cars, so even though the Sales manager assured me I would automatically get the warranty he probably was already on the way out and didn’t really care what he promised. I must say that Jana from VW customer Care has really tried helping out with any issues I have with the dealership although they don’t have too.

Anyway, I will end up with 6 years warranty as part of a settlement agreement the Skoda dealership and I came too

                                ^ that's great news!

I've got 5 years like zei20t due to the promo in early 2012. Mine was Nov'11 built, bought in Feb '12.
