Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Looking for Foglights for 90TSI

Hi there, I have decided I need some fogs for our 90TSI,

Is there wiring in the loom to enable fogs to be fitted?

Also anyone know where I can get a set and what part number they are as the dealers done seem to know anything about them.

not sure on skoda but vw dont have any extra looms.. so if it doesnt have fog then there is nothing there... you should be able to retro fit tho.. new switch in the car wired to electrics control unit. fogs and brackets and connectors wired upto a power source and then you would also need to code in front fogs with VCDS at central electrics... wouldnt be cheap...

Could always just use a bog standard wiring loom.

Could even get the headlight switch with fogs and do some electrical trickery to get it to work.

Do you need them because it's foggy where you live?
I did HIDs on my main beams & find they have been the best lighting upgrade but if you need fog lights for fog then:

Light housings are about GBP 50 / pair
        Switch is about GBP 15
Wiring loom? Who knows? maybe BriSkoda folk have done something.

It surprises me that the loom isn't in there already.

You could also use a universal loom & switch but it wouldn't be nearly as tidy or integrated - About GBP 15

Where we live fogs are a good thing as we are at 700m ASL and the weather is already starting to get a bit misty.

What interests me is the switch in the car has a fog setting but I am not keen to start pulling things apart on my month old car. I guess I can pull off the fog covers on the bumper and if there is a plug there we might be onto something.

Dealers are almost helpful, i can get fogs for 120 each but wiring plugs and anything other thing, dunno but if i can get a part number they can get it apparently.
