Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • New Octavia VRS owner.

    Hey Guys,

Have been reading this forum for some time leading up to my purchase today, laid down a deposit on a demo 2012 VRS dsg wagon in candy white hopefully pick it up in a few days!!

    Planned mods will be,

Factory 18s powder coated in either a black or anthracite,
    Lowered,
    APR stage 1,
    Tint windows.

Can someone tell me when first service will be due don't have the logbooks handy atm, she only has 3000kms on the clock, as soon as i get her home will drop in some new oil as I always service my cars every 5k regardless of factory servicing oh and what oil to use???

    Welcome to the club Mitch.

Where are you located and where did you get the car from?

As luck would have it I have the exact same car and I'm sure you will love it like i do (and the rest of us here).

The first service is not due til 15,000k and every 15 after that. The big ticket services don't really kick in until 45k and 60k (I think, mines only done 22,000).

It always pays to drop the oil if you don't know how it has been driven though. As for the oil, I'm not sure, the books will have it though.

You'll find a lot of very knowlegable people on here too - use them as much as you need to!

    Cheers,

    BEN

For the small difference in price and much more satisfying result go straight to APR Stage II
While the Stage1 tune has a lot more midrange than stock, the top end is worse than stock
Stage II is not much more power/torque but the power band is wider/richer and so much more effective

I would go with black wheels against a white car - very smart look
(I've got black wheels on grey car - should have got anthracite)
2012.1 Skoda Octavia VRS DSG Wagon - Carbonio cold air intake and pipe - HPA Motorsports BBK 355mm rotors 6 pot calipers
APR Stage II ECU - APR 3" exhaust down pipe & high flow catalyst
APR/HP Roll bars - Eibach springs and Bilstien shocks
Supaloy lower control arms - Enkei 18*8 Wheels

          Hi Martin,

Yeah will consider my options when the time comes with APR tuning.

I see you are in the Shire might see you around haven't seen many OCTY'S getting around, do you know anyone local who can powder coat rims as I want to get this done before I sell my old car so Im not stuck without transport.

Do yourself a favour and check out Magman at Punchbowl. Greg's work is top shelf, and his prices are fair and reasonable. He doesn't advertise, or have a website, but is always busy. He's a good bloke too. No schmoozing, or stuffing about. What you see is what you get. His best advertisement is the wheels sitting at his shop waiting to be picked up.

EDIT: Forgot my manors. Welcome Mitch!

You're supposed to only use oils with the VW 504.00 / 507.00 approval (there are a few threads around here, eg this one). Locally, many people are using Penrite Enviro+ 5W-30 ($82.50/5L, EDIT: currently $69.95 @Supercheap) or Shell Helix Ultra Extra 5W-30 ($74.99/5L @Supercheap).

I love the Penrite oil, has lasted me for years when I picked it up on sale at Repco. Don't dump the oil unless its done 6mths or so though, there is thinner run in oil in there for a reason. Despite pushing the dealers were heavily advising not to change the run in oil until 15k on my car when I bought it new.

                    Martin,

Done abit of research today, MR Clean at Padstow seems the go to get your rims powder coated, I've just got to find some rolling stock or bricks to rest her on in the garage while they are being done.

Thanks all for the info on oil.

One more sleep pick her up tomorrow!!!!

Can we please see pics of your finished car mate?

In the meantime, here is a few pics from the white wagon at the car show last year.

It shows how nice the black wheels can look.
                          ....hmmm nice.....

Just needs to be lowered and have dark tint applied.....
