Does anyone know how you set the MFD to come on to a particular display every time the car starts? For example, can you set it up so that it automatically goes to the audio display every time you turn the car on?

My current MFD seems to have a mind of it's own and sometimes it will display the audio and other times it will display the MFD controls (like fuel consumption etc) when you start the ignition. It's becoming quite frustrating.

Also, as an aside, does anyone know if the rear wiper on the RS wagon is automatic like the front wipers? Twice now I've seen it work (only one swipe) when the lever is not in the on position for the rear wiper, but the front wipers are working in the automatic position.

Our RS always starts with whatever menu you left it on before, and in our case that's the range-to-empty screen. I find it odd that it resets itself. As for the rear wiper, I'm pretty sure it's only automatic when you're in reverse with the front wipers on (I'm pretty sure - anyone care to correct me on that?).

My MFD starts with the previous menu screen as per Jake's reply, but not sure how you could get it to start with anything but the MFD menu items (fuel consumption, travel time, etc).
With auto/rain sensing wipers, and the wipers set to auto, the rear one should give one wipe when you select reverse (which is annoying when the car has been parked a while and all is dried up and the rear wiper grates across a dry dirty screen), along with the audio being automatically attenuated a bit, and the HVAC going into recirculate mode. Also the rear wiper will give an intermittent wipe while driving forward if the auto wipers are wiping continuously for a set amount of time/strokes.

My MFD starts up in whatever you left it on... Although, it likes to go to bluetooth sometimes. (Especially if something isn't quite right in the BT connection process... signal, etc)
When it was new, the MFD behaved very strangely. It would randomly switch to all sorts of screens. Even settings, once.

As for rear wipers... I don't know any sort of frequency, etc... But its very handy to have that wipe every so often.

I would love to know ow to do this too.

My RS always defaults to the Bluetooth display and all I want is the digital speedo. Also, the Nav commmands always override whatever is displaying when you input a new destination too - its already in the main display for F sake!

Can anything be done via VAG-COM?

Hmmm, some differing experiences, I wonder if firmware versions have different behaviour

My MFD comes back on at whatever I was last viewing when I turned the car off
When starting a navigation the MFD also switches to navigation

My rear wiper is fully manual - has never done anything automatically

              the same happens with mine.

the rear wiper setting is a VCDS tick box I believe.

My MFD randomly goes to the phone menu when there has been a problem.

sat nav instructions only need the 'back' button pressed to go back to where you are.

I think when your phone connects you'll end up on the BT/Phone screen anyway.

The range to empty function is based on real time average fuel consumption as indicated by the onboard computer, so as the consumption varies the range is recalculated and updated to match. If I'm showing 130Km range left then jump onto a tollway where I'm cruising at 100 -110Kmh my average consumption is lower than in stop start traffic and the range will jump up to 150 or 160 after only a few k's. Perfectly normal.

No, I don't find that the range resets itself odd (because it doesn't), I find that Donweather's MFD resetting itself is odd.

Yep mine does that and only if I turn Bluetooth on in my Iphone. Dont do it and it always stays on the digital speed reading.

What does p+++ me off is when you hit your overspeed setting and it wont cancel itself and you have to hit the button all the time.

That's exactly what mine does now. How'd you rectify this?

That's what mine does. Freaked me out when I noticed it the first time as I was like, hey, I don't have the rear wiper on?

Nope. I get a message on my touch screen stating "Connect to Phone" I hit OK and then the MFD switches (at random) to whatever it feels like. Actually, about 70% of the time it switches to the radio screen (which is what I have it on when I turn the car off), but about 30% of the time it just switches to something like fuel consumption on the MFD. It's doing my head in!!!

I can't really recall my MFD misbehaving at all (doesn't mean that it hasn't - just that I haven't noticed it!). Mine always starts on the item it was last on when ignition is turned off.

My overspeed warning stays on for a few seconds after speed has dropped below the set speed and returns to whatever it was displaying (mind you I've not tried all combinations - my MFD is usually set to either average fuel consumption or range 'til empty).

I didn't know about the auto rear wipe when selecting reverse. Surely it would only do this if the rain sensor has 'sensed' rain on the windscreen? That said, I usually have my wipers in the 'off' position, as there is something about the lighting in the car park at work that seems to set the wipers off if I leave them in 'auto'! Other than that, my rear wiper works pretty much as redline3345 described.
