  • 18" Wheels for 1.8 TSI

    Hey guys,

I have a facelift 2009 1.8 TSI Wagon in Cappucino beige.
I'm looking at getting some 18" black wheels, to match the tinted windows and get a beige and black theme going.

The wheels I'm looking at are these
    http://www.ozzytyres.com.au/store/wheel-tyre-packages/xxr-530-18x7-5-5x112-chromium-black-wheel-
    tyre-package.html

    XXR 530, 18 x 7.5, 5 x 112 Chromium black

Any thoughts? Has anyone had dealings with Ozzy Tyres?

I've been doing a lot of reading lately, and I would really appreciate any input as the more I learn the more questions seem to pop up...

    Cheers!

    Hello mate

That wheel design is very common, BMW/VMR/BBS/etc
It's a lovely pattern which is fairly agressive without looking like a hoon
(You can fit larger brakes under these wheels FYI)

They have not detailed the offset:
    • For 7.5" wide it needs to be 51mm~52mm
    • For 8" wide wheels it needs to be ET45

(The other point to get right is center bore size of 57.1mm)

I do think $350 per corner is rather high (ignore that RRP of $700 each, that's rubbish)

Take this ebay example - quality VMR wheels for $314 per corner including shipping from the USA
18" VMR V710 Matte Black Wheels Rims Fit VW Golf Rabbit GTI & Jetta (MKV MKVI) | eBay

Or these in VIC for $250 per corner
Volkswagon VW 18" GTC Wheels Black GT-CX Golf V VI MKV GTI R R32 TSI FSI | eBay

Both examples are 8.5" wide which is pretty agressive - 8" would be better

Your link does not work - here is a direct link to the wheel picture

Great, thanks very much for that Martin! That's helpful info...

It seems I could do a bit better on the price maybe, I was looking at the wheel & tyre package for $1899..

I wouldn't want anything too aggressive, just because I don't think it would suit my car.
In fact I haven't been able to find any pictures of a beige Octavia with anything but standard wheels

I guess I was somewhat inspired by the beige Fabia Monte Carlo

(Thanks for fixing my link by the way)

Here they are on eBay (actually RS4 design)
You don't have to buy the wheel & tyre package
Make sure to specify CB 57.1 - he will provide rings to match your hub to the wheel

              hey mate,
You could go for almost all the wheels designed for a mk5 or mk6 golf...
These are originally from the mk6 Golf GTI Adidas model...

Tempe Tyres do many styles, including black wheels....
2018 Ralyee Green RS wagon. Fully optioned.
Previous vehicles:2015 Volvo V60 Polestar (my one detour from VW/Skoda!)
2013 Platin grey RS wagon / 2012 White Polo GTI / 2009 Black 125 Tiguan

Thanks Tigger, that makes things a lot easier...most of the sites have the Golf in the wheel configurators, but no Skodas.

I'll check out Tempe tyres, that's where you got yours? They look great by the way, very classy

Fantastic idea, had I kept my black roof rails I would've gone for black wheels for my Platin Grey wagon. black rails + wheels with light colours look great.

You could go the whole way and black out your grille, and trade for someone's black roof rails (or black them out too) like our forum member Mysticality

For wheels might I also recommend BMR Autowerkes who are in Sydney too, for black VMR/GTC wheels

                    That white wagon looks great.

Most people know my 1.8TSI with the rotiforms. Mine has 19" but.

I have a gold wagon pic mocked up with my rotiforms on it.... If I can work out how I upload it I will!!

Yeah, that had occurred to me! I thought I'd start with the wheels and see how the budget goes, but it's definitely a good idea...

Thanks...how's your 1.8 TSI going? Have you made any mods apart from wheels?

Mine's going in for the DSG fix next week to stop the shudder, which I guess is a good thing while it's still in warranty!

                        Otherwise very happy with mine...

Slightly OT, but this has to be the coolest configurator I've seen yet...

My 1.8 tsi has had the wheels and suspension done, KW V3 "ultra low" coilovers done, and am jut about to do leather trim and a stereo fit out.

Mine has been going great till this week, it was serviced two weeks ago, I've done 5000ks since service and at the service they told me I needed to have the DSG done and a new water pump...... Well this week it's asked for oil.... Then the engine light came in after the oil was added and it stalled and couldn't get any gears..... Glad it's under warranty..... Apparently this new clutch pack and mechatronics fixes this issue. But I was aware of the DSG issue so I'm not worries.... Would like to know the oil issue and engine light was about.... And now I'm told the water pump issue is common in 1.8 TSI audis so I'm not too worried..... All in all my skoda experience has been good!

All in all I'm in love with my wagon..... I'm planning to buy a fabia RS wagon or a fiesta ST early next year..... And since my octavia experience has been good I think I'll go a Fabia!

Sorry to hear about your problem mate, I had my DSG fail last year and had to get the mechatronics replaced.
Since then it's been fine, except for the 1st to 2nd gear shudder...hopefully this will be fixed next week!
