Octavia and 3 baby seats

Hi guys, yesterday I found out that my second child is actually my third as well, We're having twins!!! Eek

neither of our cars are big enough for 3 baby seats. I like the look of the Octavia diesel wagons, anybody know if they have 3 anchor points and are big enough

They do have three anchor points. The left and right anchor points are behind the seat and the middle anchor point is just behind the head rest. Mine is a 2012 1.4L petrol turbo wagon. I've got two chunky baby/toddler seats (Safe-N-Sound Meridian, Maxi-rider) which leaves little room for a centre passenger, so it might get a bit squishy depending on what baby seats you have.

That's very exciting news. This is the very thing I'm pondering. With 2 already (2yo & 4 weeks old) I'm wondering if we have the planned third, how'd we go fitting them all in. Especially as I'm planning on buying the new RS wagon as soon as it's available so I won't want to have to change it over only months after having it.

Thanks for the post cBay. Looks like it can be done! Might have to invest in some slimmer designed seats for the Octy though. I have one Baby Love seat and steelcraft capsule in the GTI, both of which are quite slim, but the safe and sound seat and capsule we have in the Octy are bulky and there is no way a third would go in.

I luv my Ocy but I have to admit it isn't wide enough for 3 baby seats - if you go the Safe & Sound seats. Both my kids are in the S&S Hi Liners (4-7 yr old boosters) and only now can we sit between them. You won't fit 3 Maxi Riders or Meridan's in the back of an Ocy (or Superb either).

I suggest you look at cars with wide 2nd row seats - Territory, Falcon, Commodore, Mondeo, Citroen C4 Picasso, etc

Yep forget the Octy, we have the same seats above and you would be stuffed fitting anything between them. I have a Santa Fe and an adult can have an uncomfortable trip between them but it will get worse with the larger booster seats. The Santa Fe is a lot wider than our RS as well. You can get slimmer seats but the safety/crash results of those is pretty awful. Have a look at CREPS.

Keep in mind that the age kids have to sit in seats actually goes well above 8 yrs old, its also based on height. Lots of kids out there out of boosters too early. They are also likely to be increasing the age in the near future as well. Rearward facing might also get extended out to 1 yr or more so in the long term getting something bigger now will allow for that. If you wanted half a chance get something wider. An Odyssey is a great car for twins without bulking up.

I've just spent the last month going through this exercise. I have 2011 RS Hatch, 2 girls (3.5yo and a 1.5 yo) and # 3 arriving in two weeks. We spent a large number of hours fitting all kinds of seats at the various baby stores and could never get the combination right (i.e. the seats were angled, sqaushed and hitting the door armrests when closing).

The best combination we managed were 3 x Infra Secure XT Kompressor convertable car seats. These are meant to be one of the slimmest on the market. We did end up getting them to fit, but as mentioned earlier it was way too squahed, doors hitting the seats when closing and a nighmare trying to get my eldest into the middle seat. Not to mention I nearly lost my fingers trying to get them all buckled up.

In the end I just didn't feel comfortable with the fit and had to bite the bullet and buy something larger - MY13 Kia Sorento. The great news is the Skoda is now all mine (I was driving a crappy little Fiat Punto 1.4 whilst my wife and kids were enjoying the Skoda).

I had one before the Octy - followed a stock standard Nissan Patrol through some pretty tricky terrain and pulled *almost* as nice economy as my vRS TDI.
The only let down is the slushbox, but the tiptronic does its job properly.
