      Thanks Martin!
      Yep I am going the Continentals...and they will be 225 /35 /19.

Getting the springs done today, and wheels tomorrow...

The Golf GTI guys run 19/8.5 ET35 - they pull the wheel into the strut for two reasons
To avoid rubbing (they have less clearance than us and normally run the car lower than us)
For suspension geometry - any 8.5" wide rim with a ET45 offset has added one inch all on the outside of the wheel - not good

If you are going to run 8.5" wide rims I think it's best to use an ET35 offset
I think you've got it all back-to-front. ET35 gives more outward poke than ET45.

You'll love the springs, no question about that

I will be interested to hear about your experience and opinion of running 19" 35 profile tyres!

OK, so the springs are on...and I gotta say....when I picked up the car, it didnt look any lower at all!
So, I guess they have to settle in?? Well, I drove 40 kms, and they still dont look any lower...

Hmmm...so when I ordered them, I said "I have an RS wagon etc...I need lower springs..."
Do ya reckon I have just got another set of std RS springs?

                    don't forget its only a 20mm.
i measured (ground to top of wheel arch) mine before i had the springs put in.

the front dropped 30mm (from 680mm to 650mm), while the rear dropped 20mm (from 690mm to 670mm).
the rear "looks the same", as opposed to the front.

                      Hey Tigger!
Did it feel any different to drive? The 1st thing i noticed was how much the rear squatting & front-end lifting was reduced, which was what i was wanting. My Tiggy did look lower, but not as noticeable as i imagined. Maybe you were expecting more?

It never occurred to me to check that - I didn't get the springs to go lower, wanted the firmness
(the suspension geometry works best around or just below stock ride height)
So I've now checked my before and after photos - it's not very noticeable at all!

How about the ride, is it firmer? Mine was very noticeable...

                          Yep...I'm not complaining.

                          It certainly drives MUCH better!
The turn-in is so much sharper, and the reduction in body roll is amazing!
I would not have thought springs could make that much difference. It feels more Golf R like in its drive / feel...

I am really glad I have gone down this path!

Tomorrow is new wheels and tyres time!

                          Yay!

Eibach vRS deisel wagon springs dropped my 1.8TSI sedan 30mm at the front & zero at the rear.

It's brilliant, the higher back end gives better turn-in & if I want to be a nob I can get the back end to hang out. Less pitch, less body roll. The back end doesn't sag if I have a full tank of fuel & 20 bags of mulch in the back.

Not sure if this will be a totally good setup for when my daughter starts driving it (eek!).

It needs new dampers & I'm tossing up between Konis or coilovers - there isn't a lot of difference in the price

That would reduce the caster angle - very slightly

among other (very slight) things. Used to do it on the motorbikes as well.

Octavias are running ~8 degrees IIRC. I remember people thought I was a bit radical setting cars up with 4 degrees when the specs were 1-2.
